Trapped Squirel — Brooklynian

Trapped Squirel

So this morning the guard kitties are at the top of the stairs going crazy. Running around in circles and generally behaving like animals. Evidently, a squirrel has become trapped in the area between my skylight on the roof, and the stained glass skylight. The animal isn't moving too much, but its still active enough that I don't want to take a chance that it will either 1) bolt into the eaves or 2) will fall into the hallway and take off into the house.

Called ACC and they said they don't come out for squirrels, I'd have to hire someone to remove the animal. After a couple of calls, I can't seem to find anyone that will do it for less than an arm and a leg. Anyone have any recommendations?

  • lock up the rooms and kitties and lure him out of the apt with food? through a window out the hallway?

Sounds dumb, but if the fire dept will save a cat stuck in a tree, do you think if you call them directly, someone there might help? -Dumb idea, but that's all I got.
  • We opted to try to get him out ourselves. By the time we brought the ladder out and locked up the animals squirrel was no where to be found. No signs of him under the eaves and no clue how he got in or out. Cats have given up the hunt so we think he's really gone.

I tried 311. Squirrels are worse than rats. No one will come for them unless they are dead, (and even then they might not come). I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.
  • They are used in traditional brunswick stew.
  • Just saw this - you should try Sean Casey. They can probably tell you how to squirrel proof that space now. Good luck.
