    you must ask amy

    look for this episode's keywords:

    - e.s.d.c. + j.d.a. = b.a.l.d.c.
    - p.i.l.o.t.
    - bill perkins
    - p.c.a.
    - transparent and accountable
    - illegally issued bonds

What is happening to David and the other people who live in the building? What started the fire?
  • roux42 wrote: What started the fire?
    i suspect raging greed
  • from what i've heard, the fire was started by a hole in the flue of the boiler, and was an accident. David and roommate are still in their place and the damage is being (or probably has already been) repaired.
  • "Freddy's Bar Armors Neighbors - Erects Guillotine Made of Beer Cans - Declares Eminent Domain Revolt

Last Sunday, Freddy’s Bar installed the Chains of Justice (see Cuff Love, NY Post by Leonard Greene and A.P. coverage later in this alert), to prevent the wrongful Eminent Domain taking of the neighborhood where it is situated in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.

In preparation for the upcoming seige of the bar, this Sunday, December 27, we are declaring revolt and collecting money for armor plating to protect homeowners and renters from eviction, at an event featuring a 9 foot guillotine to guillotine Eminent Domain effigy."

Now these fools are resorting to a wall of beer cans to "protect homeowners"? This sounds likee something my 12-year old neighbor would concoct! If it weren't so pathetic, it might actually be funny.

Please post photos of the same 15 people who keep showing up to these sad events...
  • a wall of beer cans, isn't that against the recycling law?
I can envision that an army of the homeless ,with shopping carts will have a field day tonight .
  • So when the police give the order to vacate and you resist or lock yourself to the bar and force them to cut you off, how much in legal fees are you willing to pay to be ever remembered by the other 20 people who were there enjoy a beer and a shot with you ? Probably about a grand I would guess.

...the nearest big recycling center is at Grand and Pacific.

  • I just read this ... I'll just post it below:

    ----------
    Tonight: Free Drinks in BK
    When: Tonight, 8-9pm
Where: Freddy's Bar & Backroom 485 Dean St., Btw. 6th Ave & Flatbush Ave. Prospect Heights (718) 622-7035

Freddy's Backroom is that awesome-looking bar on Dean, close to Flatbush that you always pass by wondering what's going on in there.

Here's what's goin on: no cover, a live set from Liquor Ridge and an open bar, all on a Sunday. This place is slated for demolition as part of the Atlantic Yards project. This might be your last chance to feel up a slice.

Are you sure about the "Free Drinks"? I checked the Freddy's website and Liquor Ridge's Facebook page, didn't see anything about an open bar situation.

  • I still question how difficult it would be for Freddie's to find a new space. Isn't its rather banalsetting what makes it so appealing? Just hang the neon lights in another space and I think the spirit will survive.
Druid, look at your post from above: it makes no sense. Who is Amy and what is the link you tried to provide?

answer 1: if you moved france to a new location you would mostly end up with canada
Chekhovian wrote: Druid, look at your post from above: it makes no sense. Who is Amy and what is the link you tried to provide?
answer 2: first click the link, then listen to amy, then tell me what you've learned

request: tell us more about your plan
  • Chek,Amy is the lawyer with the lip ring,,she claims there is some fishy paperwork that's going to make this whole mf thing fall on Ratner's big fat wallet and break it into another 600 million pieces, only this time the pieces won't be green, shiny or spendable. It's the dirty history people are fighting for not the neon signs. As clean creeps everywhere people are mad as hell about filth, they want their graffitti and dive bars and places with no sign so it can be like olden days. Now that everybody realizes that having a f--king yoga studio, kids clothing store, nail salon repeat everywhere they are trying to show that preserving anything old ,even Freddie's can be important,we are all going to be sorry if you can't tell Dallas from Brooklyn, Buckhead from Crown Heights. Mirrored high rises don't belong here, ask Richard Meier.
  • druid, your post shows no link, it shows a mixed up url that cannot be clicked. and no i'm not that interested in your recommendations anyways.

i don't have a plan, because i don't work for freddie's. one of the proprietors, though, might want to think of a backup plan if chaining themselves to a wall doesn't stop the atlantic yards project.

what are the develop-don't-destroyers saying should go there? the only thing i ever hear from the naysayers is a park. that's an imbecile's answer. that's not going to happen. the city is not going to pay to maintain a municipal park when the space is within a mile of both fort greene park and prospect park.

catwalker, i'd rather see a slice of dallas than a blighted space sit vacant for years between two of the busiest streets in the borough.
  • Chekhovian,

Karl the Druid posted a YouTube video embed of a 4min 15sec video clip featuring a state and local public law scholar named Amy Lavine at a recent gathering discussing the apparent illegalities of the property holding company's recent, huge bond offering.

What he posted is quite clear to anyone with one of the usual computer/OS/browser setups (Flash installed, able to see YouTube videos).

If you don't see the YouTube video embedded there, perhaps you have Flash disabled or not installed? It would not likely appear as you describe otherwise.

(works as fine as any other YT video on my pc, mac and iphone in various browsers)
  • Chekhovian wrote: and no i'm not that interested in your recommendations anyways.
karl offered no recommendation to checkovian, just answers to questions

but answer 1 might best apply to your question about freddy's moving:
if you moved france to a new location you would mostly end up with canada

although karl can not speak for their plans, he is neither owner nor employee.
Chekhovian wrote: catwalker, i'd rather see a slice of dallas than a blighted space sit vacant for years between two of the busiest streets in the borough.
the symptoms of blight that you witness in the area are courtesy of fcr, the developer

you can thank fcr personally for such a skilled job on blight making
  • on the surface this post may seem to be about the fate

of a popular local bar called freddy's

and for some, one's personal preference of fern bar, dive or tgi friday's

this topic is actually about defiance in the face of a greater demon:

    eminent domain abuse

    1. freddy's: a popular local business is threatened by the evocation of blight. blight in this instance has come to mean "not providing a higher financial potential." the physical blight of the neighborhood was manufactured by a shadowy developer, forest city ratner.

    2. forest city ratner (fcr): a developer who is well connected with corrupt agents of albany, has bought grand favors in exchange for their political cooperation. he claims the public benefit will come from a new jersey team, a team which he has already sold to a palladium prince pimp.

    3. eminent domain abuse: the mis-appropriation of power to seize private land was decided by a governor, an assembly speaker, and a senate majority leader all behind closed doors. the later of the three is going to jail for corruption charges in the new year.

should one allow their business or land to be stolen by a private developer

who's bed parters are diseased with albany corruption?

fcr's role is not unique, just more obvious

the concern is that if this shameless blatant land grabbing

in exchange for monetary and political favors is not stopped

it will become permanently institutionalized for those who can buy it

    at risk are we all
