DOG SH*T

Pick up after your dog please, I don't care if it's snowing and someone else will have to scoop it up. This is not Paris Pour le Francais, your chien, your merde!

  • It's a shame that people in Prospect Heights are not enlightened regarding dog shit.
    I am not surprised. :clown:
  • :ncool: I thought there might have been a pic of the actual deed. It is a lot better around here than it used to be. I actually adopted a dog who was trained to "curb" himself. Couldn't figure it out for a while. I also had a friend who had a "poop" radar. We would be walking around and he would jump and say "look out." He grew up in a more scrupulous society and found our pet poop habits a bit distasteful. Good night.
  • I noticed a lot of big dried turds after the snow melted. I suspect people left them in the snow and now we get to reap the benefit. I have a small dog and always pick up after her. I also pick up any surrounding trash, cig butts and other dog shit when im bending down, but there's more than enough to go around.
  • This is fun. There's something very amusing about seeing the words Dog SHIT.
  • French Expats should pick up after their dogs!
  • There are a small number of dog owners on my block who NEVER pick up after their dogs. I know who they are. How do you prosecute? They obviously never get caught or fined. The people who illegally let their dogs run down the sidewalk off leash are also the most likely to break the poop law.

"DOG DOO ALLEY" i.e. the area between Lincoln and St Johns on Underhill is especially vile, and my block is disgusting too. It only takes one or two stupids to keep the block knee deep in DOG SHIT, after all dogs SHIT every day, year round.

This worked surprisingly well for me. I think it was the fact that I left the note for all of her neighbors to see - a couple days later, I saw her again, she had a bag in hand and seemed to be giving her neighbor the "yeah, yeah, yeah," routine of a scolded child.
  • Believe it or not at least once or twice a year since we've lived in our house I have to pick up dog shit INSIDE my gate, usually in the front garden but a couple of times right on the sidewalk at the base of my stoop. I can't imagine the mentality of someone who would not only allow their dog to shit on private property (clearly seperated from the sidewalk by an iron fence and a gate) but then not even pick it up. Exceedingly selfish or total moron? Probably both.
  • Maybe it wasn't poop from a dog...?
  • i've noticed an increase in dogshit on prospect between vandy and underhill, but have not been able to identify the culprit(s). thankfully, it's frozen and thus does not pose an immediate threat to footwear. however, it is a total bitch trying to keep mine from investigating it. very large piles, too.
  • It's the French! They know better, like tipping, and...

You are so smart! the dogs are French too? since I assume "no" is the answer, they should know better these American dogs!
  • next time you see them, pick it up w/ a bag and throw the bag of dog shit in the owner's face. problem solved.
  • People:

This is the solution to the dog poop problem:

It's a $15 outdoor literature box from Staples filled with baggies:

Set up one of these if your block is having a poop problem. It'll be the best $15 you ever spent.
  • Hi Union St. Did I take a photo of the front of your house.
  • no, the solution to the dog poop problem is for owners to have feces thrown a them. if you can't be bothered to carry a doggy bag, then don't own a dog and maybe they should be given up to the chinese to cook for dinner.

  • anyone know the guy with two pit bulls, one usually off leash, walks em on Butler Pl. on garbage nights so it can eat out of the bags?

we've met, but I can't say know him.

...I've seen him lift his dogs over the GAP berm fence, and let them wander around in there.
  • recently there's been a proliferation of poop in front of the community garden on st. marks between carlton and vandy. might be just one dog/owner...but i can't help but think that if it didn't look like such a hole there (yes, i know it's winter and nothing's growing) then people would have more respect for the sidewalk. anyone here involved in the garden?
  • i hate stepping on that stuff. especially next to my house. off course i order that tree and dogs use the a tree. lesson learn don't order no tree if people in the area still don't pickup doggy crap.
  • proliferation on prospect b/t underhill up to carlton, too. as my inquisitive canine's snout and lug-sole boots have been quick to indicate. digging dogshit out of the lugs has got to be the most annoying and disgusting ritual:-(
  • There is an young Asian dude in the second apartment building on Prospect Place off of Vanderbilt (between Vand. & Carlton) and he walks his pit bull late at night and I have seen him on several occassions over several years walking his dog and always looking over his shoulders to see if people are around as he NEVER picks up after his dog.

One time a deposit was left in front of our house and I picked it up and left it in his front doorway and have never seen any future deposits in front of our home.

However I still do see him sneaking around the block looking for a nice place for his dog to take a shit while nobody is looking.
  • thanks for the tip, cement. we (my german shepherd and i) will be on the lookout for them. equipped both with menacing grins and extra dogshit bags. maybe we should start a neighborhood poop patrol? these types of vigilante activities appear to be effective around here
  • I am constantly on the lookout for poo offenders, but never catch any in the act. I always have an extra bag on me, as long as my pooch doesn't decide to double down on our walks.
  • St Johns between Franklin and Classon on the bridge over the shuttle usually seems to be an especially bad spot. There are usually fresh piles a few times a day.
