The Dumbo Loft — Brooklynian

The Dumbo Loft

has anyone ever rented The Dumbo Loft for an event or shoot? i would appreciate it if you could tell me about your experience. i emailed the contact person listed on their website a week ago and haven't gotten a response, which is a strike against them, but i am tryign to do all my research because the space looks so darn cool.

  • I've never rented the space, but I was there for an art exhibit and concert on Friday night. It was a great space with a nice cozy ambiance but there seemed to not be enough bathroom access. That "greenspace" right outside the front door was a nice respite from the music inside too.
  • hi backin--thanks for this info. do you have a sense of how many people they could accomodate? we need 160 (yikes) for a sitdown dinner and their website doesn't mention the capacity.
  • I would guess that 160 is close to full capacity. If you have the food-prep and bar in an adjacent space, 160 people might fit (tightly). Just a guess though.

The Dumbo Loft must have been stepping up their game since these posts, I see one was from September, and this other persons event was suppose to be in October 09?

Anyway, I booked a date at the Dumbo Loft but didn't realize that my party would grow to almost 200 people for a seated event! So much for keeping it intimate.

So I cancelled the date and they told me that if they were able to re-book my date they would give me my security deposit back, minus a fee for the time spent showing me and signing the contract blah blah

It was not ideal that they took a couple hundred dollars in a cancellation fee but they found someone to take my date and got me the rest of my security deposit back. At least I didn't have to eat the whole $1200. This place is pretty sweet for about 140 people for seated events and super affordable. I wish I could have kept it intimate and used the Dumbo Loft.
