Just wanted to say that this grocery store (the old C-Town on Washington) is a much more pleasant place since its redesign. I'm not sure if the produce/meat is any better than before (haven't sampled much of it), but in terms of layout, cleanliness, and order, the new version is a big improvement. Also, it doesn't smell disgusting in there anymore.

I agree. I think the produce seems better, which is probably because the new coolers actually keep things cool. The meat certainly looks better now- I don't buy meat all that often, but it no longer looks questionable like it did before. And I definitely don't miss that smell.

Never been in there, but always chuckle at their name. This supermarket will not insist on going steady - it just want's a one night stand!

I buy non-perishables, cleaning basics, sugar, and some baking supplies (they don't sell my preferred brand of whole-wheat flour, however). They're a lot cheaper than the Key Foods on 7th and even the Met.

The store is much more pleasant.
Produce looks better.
Wish they would get a better selection of cheese

hey - I popped in to the place for potatoes and hoping for some rosemary and half/half. I was very happy to actually browse the asiles. The place is like a real grocery store now. The register area could use some improvements. I would love to see a box for the plastic bag recycling. Just glad I can get stuff for dinner nearby and not have to "plan" a trip elsewhere. Honestly I may not need freshdirect much anymore if this place keeps up the good work.

Subject: Key Food lives on

The positive C-Town thread prompted me to post about my visit yesterday to Key Food on Washington. Among the usual grossness (rotten meat smell, cashiers snarfing meals behind the register, only limited prices posted) for the bazillionth time I attempted to purchase something expired. Yes, it was on sale, but the cheese had expired a week a go. Is that remotely legal? If you are as frustrated as I am, please call 311.

Losing That-Grocery-Store-Smell is a huge leap forward.

Subject: busy busy

The place was a mad house last night. The celery was all rubbery, but the green pepper was very fresh and perfect. Also found out they sell kombucha tea. Still much to be desired for this place... but maybe more business will equal better place.

I can't believe how different it is. We used to do all our shopping at Met Foods on Vanderbilt. Not anymore. If they could just stock some better meat and bread, I probably wouldn't need to make the trek to Vanderbilt.
