any bars (etc) showing the olympics?

edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
i killed my television. and nbc is too dumb to realize that i'd watch their budweiser ads on my computer, too.

alternately, anyone have luck using a proxy server to watch some other country's coverage? i found instructions but haven't tried yet.

  • Prospect Pond put the opening ceremonies on, but everybody in the bar at the time was into it. I didn't get the impression it was a regular thing. Maybe the sports bar at Washington and Park?
  • I would try Plan B. They have a bunch of nice TVs and the bartenders will accomadate requests.
  • Plan B was showing the Olympics last night...So was Piquant...Also, I think the pool / ping pong place on Flatbush ave was doing the on-line thing from Beijing a couple years ago so you might check that out too...
  • I bet that if you went to Prospect Pond and asked Sam to put it on he would. Especially during the week.

I don't think sweet tea is the Plan B kind of gal.
  • My wife hates the place, I think women are really turned off by the vibe.I'm by no means a regular but I find that most people on this board don't like it for whatever reasons. I've stopped by after work in order to watch a few games and the people seem really nice. A good mix of working class folks and drunks that wouldn't fit in at the other bars on Vandy. That said, it's still a good option in my opinion.
  • carny, you underestimate my love of the olympics.

your analysis is still correct for 102 out of 104 weeks.

They've been showing it on one of the TVs at Woodwork, which is in the neighborhood and is a much better venue. Leave Plan B to the B-tards.
  • carnivore, you calling me retarded because i went to plan B a few times?
  • woodwork was showing the moguls competition on saturday night, so likely they'll be showing some other coverage as well.

    I didn't call you anything.

    Also, B-tard ≠ retard

    Inspired by /b/tard.

especially not if you were using satire.
  • I just thought it was funny!
But you know what wasn't so funny? last night when we were watching the men's moguls they kept showing the brother of the kid that won gold. I kept making fun of him because he looked like he had a few too many drinks. Ends up he has cerebral palsy.

I just thought he looked super-Canadian because of those glasses and that hat. Mrs. C called it right away though.
