I know that was sarcasm, but I can't let it go. Unless the dirty bomb is dirty because it was a radioactive iodine bomb (unlikely, it would probably be cesium or something), iodine won't do anything to protect you. Iodine doesn't protect against radiation; it protects against radioactive iodine, which is produced by nuclear fission, from being incorporated into your thyroid. If a fission bomb goes off in NYC, iodine is the last thing you'll have to worry about, unless you're on a day trip quite far outside the city proper.

I am well aware of this, yet have a relative who carries iodine since the media-fed Indian Point Bombing scare. (the evil capitalist sees this a missed opportunity to play on people's fear, by offering them a worthless solution at huge mark-up. ...but I digress)

Back on topic: I will be eating soft ice cream when the big one hits. ...and until the big one hits as well.
