The Time Out this week has a small article on how to donate your CDs.
I have at least 200 CDs. I would love to make some extra money from these.
I found some website that looks promising but would like to know if anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks in advance. -
If you can grind them up fine enough, they make great holographic glitter, or in strips, tinsel.

Here is that TONY link
I have been working through this process this year as well. I sold a lot at a yard sale this summer, mostly the more interesting stuff. If you have a decent collection then advertise in the usual places and you will find that there will be collectors who get there early to get your good stuff. I will most likely sell the remaining few hundred to a bulk buyer, and find a place to recycle the unsellables.
I tried bringing the lot to a used CD store but was offered $100 for about 400 CDs, and a fine collection at that.
Also, http://ipodmeister.com/ exchanges ipods for CDs. -
Unless they're rare or in still-sealed/new condition, I imagine you might have to just throw them out. CDs are pretty worthless and haven't held their value. Most people are just going to download an album for free these days instead of bothering to import it.
Ended up throwing out about 400 CDs when we last moved. I even listed them on Craigslist for free but not one person was interested.
CDs are, undoubtedly, just about the most rubbish music format. -
Thanks for all the info. Really appreciated!!

it's hard to make much money off them by taking them to a store, you'll usually get about a dime a disc max. if they're in pretty good shape, try ebay or amazon marketplace. i look on those sites if i'm hunting for something that's older or out of print. people do still buy cds, or at least one person does. one person also keeps a spare vcr boxed up in her closet in case her current one breaks because she doesn't want to convert her vhs collection to dvds.

I recently sold about 70 CDs online using http://www.secondspin.com/ and http://www.cashforcds.com/
You enter in what you have to sell and the condition of each CD. The sites list what they're looking forward and what they're likely to pay you. It's a fairly easy process.
After receiving and approving the CDs I sent, payment was made to me via PayPal, though both businesses can also send a check. -

You can recycle them: http://www.greendisk.com/
-
you can make them into roofing tiles:

Although I must say, that big hole in the middle of each one seems a bit prone to leakage. -
Donate them to Housing Works on Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights.

...they also make great coasters!

when the squirrels started stealing my tomatoes, sucking out the juice and leaving tomato carcasses in my yard, rather than committing squirrel-cide, I hung a few CDs on strings from my tomato plants - seeing their reflections scared them away.

try giving them away for "credits" (that you can redeem for other free stuff) on listia

I used second spin for about 50 surplus counting crows CDs (recovering the stellites) .. probably 8 0r 9 years ago.
If I recall correctly they claimed to have gotten 1 CD and the other 49 went missing.
Funny thing about mail. You can mail someone a bag of sand and claim to have mailed a bar of gold. who would be the wiser? -
Please post a list of the CDs and see if people on the site want to purchase any of them. If there is anything that you have and I want I would be willing to pay 4 or 5 dollars for it.
