Emergency Conditions Beyond UPS' Control
Subject: Emergency Conditions Beyond UPS' Control
Apparently UPS does not control the weather in Brooklyn.Looks like I have to wait until Saturday for delivery of my Cuisinart ICE-30BC Pure Indulgence 2-Quart Automatic Frozen Yogurt, Sorbet, and Ice Cream Maker.
why did I have to get an ice cream maker delivered during the blizzard?
I sure hope Blue Marble is open tomorrow!

This happened to me last week. I checked the tracking and saw "Emergency conditions" then to my surprise around 8:00 p.m. my package was delivered...

Better than my UPS experience two weeks ago.
I kept close track of the package because I wanted to refuse delivery. It was going to arrive on a day that my wife would be home, but in and out a lot. Just in case, I left a note, written in black marker, eye level and in the middle of the front door. In the afternoon, I checked the tracking number and saw a 'Delivered' status. I called my wife, she hadn't set foot outside the house yet, hadn't heard the buzzer. I sent her downstairs, and the fuggin' UPS man had left a note indicating that my package had been left with a neighbor... the note was stuck to the front door, literally two inches away from the note that I'd left...
Thankfully, the truck was still on the block and my wife was able to run him down and get him to take it back - he was suitably embarrassed. -
Do report back on how the ice cream maker is, please. I've been thinking of getting one for a while...

I noticed three UPS trucks parked on Sterling yesterday or the day before. I wondered if packages got stacked up in last week's weather and they were trying to get them all out before this storm hit.

silly me I thought this one needn't be frozen overnight--- but you do.
If you have the freezer space (and shelf space) this gizmo rocks.
Put the drum in the freezer overnight.
Put the frozen drum in the mixer unit.
Add 32 oz plain yogurt nonfat, skim milk and vanilla..
turn "on" 25 minutes.
And it's done
and it came out pretty good.
I added agave for sweetener... not too keen on the agave for frozen yogurt... next time i'll try some maple syrup.
Also Looking forward to trying whole yogurt and whole milk.
BTW UPS didn't deliver until Monday. -

That sounds like an awesome little device. You could throw the drum in freezer on your way to work, stop at Whole Foods on the way home (or Natural Land) for some tropical fruit, and by the time you're finished with dinner, you can have homemade ice cream for desert. Enjoy! -
I finally had real success (third time's the charm) with the ice cream maker.
I used plain Ronny Brook Farms Yogurt & Milk from the Farmer's market at Grand Army Plaza http://www.ronnybrook.com , vanilla extract, and Maple Syrup and a little lemon juice---
sooo good.

A few trucks seem to meet on Sterling and Flatbush everyday for lunch. They double park and take up a lot of space..
