and

On Saturday, March 27 (10 to noon) we'll start spring cleaning our soon-to-be-green Plaza Street berms. We'll be a bit ahead of the leaves, so we can still snag those ugly plastic bags hanging in the trees and strategically move some fallen branches. Meanwhile, the daffodils will be up (if not blooming) so we'll need to step carefully.

We'll meet, as usual, between 9:45-10:00 at the corner of Plaza Street and Vanderbilt Avenue. [We may move to another location to work, so tell me in advance if you're coming late.] We will provide gloves and tools. Adults and supervised children are welcome.

If some kind moderator can make this a sticky until Saturday that could be so cool! I am not very computer savy!

  • I have been wondering--why does the berm have a fence? And, as so much change has been going on in GAP any chance that great expanse of asphalt tile between the berm and the library can become more usable with more benches? Grass?
  • I would be great if there were no fences but it would more grounds for the Parks Department to keep up. I think they are trying to limit the amount people who camp and party on the hill. As far as making it a freindlier place, there was a contest a few years ago to pick a plan for Berms and the fountain area but I am not sure what happened with that.
  • More benches etc. would be great. I think I heard about a plan to redo the broken stones and tile, but don't remember when it is supposed to begin. The berm design stuff was interesting in terms of getting people to think more about using GAP. Here's a link in case anybody is interested:

  • I was just going to post that link!
  • Thank you to those that showed up!!!
