Hey, wait a minute, George Bush NEVER wrote anything on his hand.
That's because Laura did the writing for him. -

Who knew Palin would play the PC card. Against FoxSpace!
Though they share a corporate parent, Sarah Palin continued her criticism of her Fox sibling Seth MacFarlane, the creator of “Family Guy,” in an appearance on “The O’Reilly Factor” that drew support from the program’s host, Bill O’Reilly.
Appearing on the program Tuesday night in her capacity as a Fox News analyst, Ms. Palin again questioned a “Family Guy” episode in which a character with Down syndrome says that her mother is the former governor of Alaska. Ms. Palin, who resigned from that post last year, has a son, Trig, who has Down syndrome.
After showing the “Family Guy” scene, Mr. O’Reilly said to Ms. Palin, “It’s pretty nasty, is it not?”
Ms. Palin replied, “This world is full of cruel, cold-hearted people who would do such a thing.” http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/02/17/on-oreilly-factor-palin-says-family-guy-gag-really-isnt-funny/ -
hahahahaha @ O'Reilly uttering these words:
“It’s pretty nasty, is it not?”

I have to agree that it is a pretty low blow.
But, like they say on Law & Order...she put it out there, making it a part of her campaign for high office, so it is fair game for pop culture tweakers to run with.
The distinction (best as I can figure):
It's not too classy to make fun of poor people or folks with disabilities.
BUT...people like Sally Struthers and Palin, who most publicly wear their heart on their sleeves to chalk up sentimental schmalz points and cash donations, are totally fair game.
I guess that's the catch...if you make something a public issue, you might not like what some of the public do with it. -
I actually just happened to watch the episode in question on tivo last night and I don't understand how it's offensive.
There was never even a joke made. The character just said, "my dad is in finance, my mom was governor of Alaska".
Literally that's the line. I'm shocked Family Guy didn't deliver an actual joke, but they didn't. I don't even see a joke, let alone an offensive one.
Sarah Palin does indeed have a Down's Syndrome child. The Down Syndrome character in question was actually a completely functional and involved character in the episode. (She goes on a date with Chris).
Palin & O'Reilly can develop a persecution complex about anything, but I don't even see the argument that an impartial observer could make. -
Haven't seen it myself.
Howdy, Stranger!
