mindless dribble RE: bike ride posting, and outing wusses
Carnivore wrote: I could have been in for 10, but I can't do 9.you destroyed the prior thread! you should unsplit it ...I wanted to see how many pages we could get it up to before the end of the summer!
Just because you can't make it, doesn't give you permission to act out.
Note to new readers, this thread has been split -for reasons known only to Carnivore- from the real, genuine, authentic thread.
As a demonstration of his wussness, he then deleted the prior thread.
...our words of wisdom may be lost forever!
Although we have lost our precious thread, it seems we will be able to ride our bikes without him.

Having the wrong date as the topic title is confusing for newbies. There should be a new thread for each one. -
no one is fooled by your attempt to woo the newbies.
Whenever a bike ride is declared, we should continue to talk about it on the prior thread.
As if "Split Topic: Bike Ride Tonight" will make any sense when we do our impromptu midnight rides in the afternoon.
...or plan them weeks in advance! -

Not true. The thread is exactly as it was. -

Undeleteing it is a good start. Now it should be restored with a new title. Something like "When is the next bike ride - beer run?".
...and it should be merged with the present thread.
Why should a newbie be exempted from reading past banter? ...they should have to pay a price for leaving their apartment. -
It was never deleted. You have to stop using your keyboard cleaner for extended periods in an enclosed space. Especially at work.
-
Why don't you guys just make one post: "Ongoing Bike Rides" or something, one thread and in the first post say check latest comments for the most recent new date/time of this recurring event.
Just an idea. seeing they happen sometimes twice or more times a week, I can see that the PH board would soon be overrun with new threads all saying bike ride tonight, etc, even if a date in attached.
my 2 cents... carry on.. -

You obtained this idea from actually reading the prior thread.

It is a genius idea. Note how said idea has been in place since March 19th, and was posted by a person of great intellect.
Note: My keyboard is dirty, keyboard cleaner is not the reason for my brilliance. -
I think a fresh thread for each ride is easier to follow, and encourages more newbies to come, because the date and time can be clear in the title. The board doesn't get cluttered, because the threads quickly drop off the front page after each ride is complete.
-
I think a long thread which includes mindless banter about prior rides gives newbies a realistic expectation of the nature of the people they may choose to ride with.
It also lets them see who frequently goes on prior rides, this way if they have developed a internet crush (or nemisis) they can decide whether or not they want to actually meet the person, or just continue to fantasize.
Unlike you, I do not have to worry about hiding extensive written evidence of inherent wussness. ...this is why I am ok with newbies seeing posts pertaining to past rides
Clearly, I am a victim. I'd call Al Sharpton, but it looks like he is busy. -
I vote one thread, if I ever decided to face the 'hill of death' I'd like to catch up on the shit talking and back talk in one place. Or at least make sure you link to the past event threads so a NOOB can catch up and know what sorta supa freaks he/she is riding with.
-
Clearly this topic should be global and include a poll.
-
There's a hill of death? Like, whirling blades and laserbeams on a bed of toenail clippings?
-
Another thought: This is all up to the OP of a thread too. Say if Whynot wants to start a bike thread and just update it, that's his right and doesn't go against any rules at all. Only off topic threads (say he started talking about Peace in the Middle East on a bike thread) get split.
Edit to add: Oh man, Carny is going to kill me siding with whynot
sorry man 8-[ -
Cleary Mama is confusing Carny with the hill of death accurately described by Whyfi
-
For those too lazy to push the "view results" button:
"On new threads. This way it is easy to read, and Carnivore's wussness is known to all"
has presently received 2 votes, making it tied with
"On one never ending thread, as a tribute to Anarchy and to let me see what kind of people I might choose to ride with".
Which, according to Glen Beck, means that:
1. Obama was not born in this country.
2. Obama is going to put your grandmother in front of a government run death panel.
3. Pick-up trucks and God wil be outlawed, which is confusing to those who confuse their pick truck with their God.
4. Socialism is in the immediate future.
Note to newbies: See how I cleverly avoided talking about the potential for Peace in the Middle East in order to avoid this post being split? ...watch and learn! -
Somehow, the one who would rather have the midnight rides at midnight is the "wussy" one and the one who needs to go before his bedtime isn't?
-
I'm ok with midnight rides.
...tonight's leader, Whyfi, suggested that tonight's ride be at 9, which met my schedule. If someone had not split the threads, this fact could easily be seen. As it is, readers must click on this link to know that I am again correct.

When you are done acting out, you should decide when we should do a midnight ride. You can start your own thread and even make it impromptu and everything. Unless I'm out of town, I'll be there.
P.S. A total of 8 people have now voted. 4 believe Carnie is a wuss, and the other 4 believe that it should be one long thread.
As a result, I've decided that a super majority is required to change the present status quo of one long thread. ...and, accordingly, will encourage posters to post all future rides on the most current bike ride thread:

Carnivore, how is it you have time to blog but not to ride?
Whynot, surely there is some piece of molding that requires routering. -
Blog?
I do not think the word means what you think it means. :P
I had a prior obligation from 7 until about 10. I think the turnout was much better when midnight rides were actually at midnight, so they didn't conflict with people's evening plans.
