dish network reviews

Does anybody have reviews about dish network service and interface. I recently switched to cablevision from directv and hate, hate, hate it.

Comments

  • How come you gave up the DirecTV? I switched to them from Time Warner and am in love...

If the interface is one of your main concerns - perhaps a TiVo would solve the problem?
  • am dying to get off of TWC. Why do you "hate, hate, hate it"?

Toadette, conversely, why are you in love? What are you using for interwebs access?
  • I have directv and thought about leaving it many times due to the cost. It is more expensive than dish network. I didn't switch yet though mainly because dish network has more fees and not all channels. I am pretty happy with the DirecTV service it is pretty reliable. Even when there is a thunderstorm only some channels will not work, but others keep working. Only when the thunderstorm is extremely heavy, very rarely, do all the channels go down.

Why did you leave DirecTV? It is better than Dish in all fronts except the cost, IMO.
  • Left Directv because it was a joint venture with a roommate who moved out. Can't afford it on my own. Looked into tivo but the new ones are $300!

Cablevision dvr sucks so bad it seems like it was created in 1983. I constantly have shows that mysteriously don't record. I was hoping dish had a more reliable / better dvr than what I currently have
  • I should say that my love affair with DirecTV has something to do with the fact that I subscribed in August and am a NFL fan, meaning I got Sunday Ticket right away. I'd also come from non-HD TWC with no DVR, so jumping to HD and a DVR plus so so so many football games equaled love.

I think the DirecTV DVR is pretty good, the only thing that stops it from being perfect is that it can't recognize when a show starts late due to sporting events running over.

It is 10 months later and I'm still happy with it, despite a few hiccups. My first installation was perfect, service never went out. After I moved, my second installation wasn't as good and I had to have the techs back out a few times to get it right. That was the hiccup, but since then the service has been perfect.

For internetz I use Verizon 3Mbps DSL. It has been fine. TWC never gave me my 10Mbps (I only got 1.5 usually) so I'm actually better off now. The only time I've had issues with the DSL was when four people were all trying to download video at once.
