Berms? Flyer? Anonymous Guest?
OK so I'm bored now after locking myself in silly with deadbolt, metal plate, fire escape gate and window bolts. Hope my plants can escape in case of fire.roux42 wrote: Dear Neighbors,

berms: The mounds that go around GAP. The group actually keeps them remarkably clean and encampment free. Pre 2005, I used to see folks living on them.
flyer: s/he can't attach it, but likely sends out email blasts as well. -
whew, ty whynot. Still not sure exactly what but get the idea, will have a look later. Vocabulary word. Had to wonder about "the embankment" in Jersey City for a bit too.
There are mounds subject to potential encampment around GAP, who knew.
Like, when you walk on plaza street between say st. johns and butler place, there's a fenced in round park area in the middle. That's not a berm, is it? What is that and is it safe to walk next to at night?whynot_31 wrote: berms: The mounds that go around GAP. The group actually keeps them remarkably clean and encampment free. yup, that's a berm.
completely safe.... no one lives in the fenced off area anymore (but I can't claim I've checked) -
Anymore?

People still do camp in the Berms, on the top of the hill. I have been picking up garbage with the group for the past few years and it is making a huge difference, it seems like every year there is less garbage. Ihave found a few interesting things though... A wig, a vase and candles, assorted clothing, a mini piano keyboard. The area by the Horseman can be bad, big party spot! Lotsa disposable lighters....

Not that it's the hugest deal, but are we talking about, say, homeless or drug related people "camping" as opposed to say, the Appalaichan Society?
Hey Roux, why not sign up for an account here? Or is that not what anonymouse guest indicates? -

Note absence of granola bar wrappers, coleman stove parts, bird watching books and smores. -
Ian2010, the title under the name ("Anonymous Guest" in the case of roux42) is just a placeholder title that's automatically generated based on the number of posts made.
"Anonymous Guest" is just the title generated for folks at a certain level of posts, just as "Newbie" is under your user name. There are different auto-generated titles for different, increasing posts thresholds reached.
But you can go into your profile and enter a custom title instead, if you'd prefer. (see whynot's and my titles for examples of that).
