Soft Claws ?

Does anyone use http://www.softclaws.com/ (Soft Claws) or a similar product?

My cats are destroying my furniture despite scratching posts, tin foil, lemon oil, double sided sticky tape, etc.....

Is it humane, safe? They are indoor cats.

  • i looked into them in the past.

they are human because of how the claw sheds (think snake skin)

you glue those on and when the claw sheds, the rubber claws come off too without a trace of glue.

good luck getting them on your cat though.

One of mine will kill if you if try to get near her claws. My other kitten doesnt care what you do to him lol

So I am able to cut them myself.

Those soft paws get pricey and last only about 6 weeks or so.

But anything is better than declawing (look at your finger nails. The vet would cut off yoru finger right below the nail. Thats what declawing is)
  • Expensive and yes, they don't last long. I looked into them years ago as well. Didn't seem to be worth it.

As for your furniture- there's a kitty don't-scratch-here-or-else-I'll-kill-you spray. I've used it before and the only way I found it to work is by spraying it ALL THE TIME (at LEAST once a day). You don't want the smell to go away- the second it does....claws!

You should also get a few scratching posts/ trays - try to get the ones made of cardboard that you sprinkle cat nip on- they're inexpensive and cats LOVE them.
  • I used Soft Paws for quite some time with my cats. I found them to work well. They definitely saved my furniture. It is a two person job to put them on though and you continually have to replace them as they fall off. But the cats didn't mind them much.
