  • Hi there, congratulations on the new addition to the family.

This is definitely a good place to post to ask for ideas, hopefully you'll get some good ideas from people regarding options in various neighborhoods.

Are there any neighborhoods you'd prefer or that would be most convenient? Or can it be anywhere?
  • WeLL preferably CaNarsie, bedstuy, east new york, crown heights, flatbush, park slope, fort greene, mill basin,Bushwhick area
  • Last year I went to a friend's baby shower party in the ground floor of a building in Crown Heights on Bedford Ave near St. Marks Place.

It was more of an open room banquet hall sort of place, roughly 20'x40' if I had to guess.

I just called my friend and he said it's called "Abby's Inc." or something like that. He said they paid $450 to rent it (half due up-front, the other half the day of the event).

He said the lady only rents it out on Saturdays and Sundays.

I can have him email me the info when he finds it and post it here, if you want.

Ah, wait..I just googled it and found this listing for them on a businesses site:

    Abby's Level Inc.

I would also check with the folks at LaunchPad on Franklin Ave in Crown Heights:

    LaunchPad

No idea what renting their place costs, or what capacity they offer.

    Good luck!
  • Aww that wass fast....I'm goin to look into those right now
  • Also, when are you looking to do this?

There's a great children's learning boutique on Franklin Avenue that unfortunately is going out of business in the next few weeks, and they might appreciate any party rental business they get at this point:

    Nairobi's Knapsack
    http://www.nairobisknapsack.com/
744 Franklin Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11238
    TEL: 347.295.2011

But that might be a long shot, dunno.
  • Congrats and I hope these recs work out.
There is Jelani Lounge on Waverly between Atlantic and Fulton Aves in Clinton Hill. The owners just opened up another location on Atlantic Ave. off Grand called Beehive in addition to the other lounge on Bedford Ave. Also there is the Denim Lounge on Bedford and Halsey in Bed Stuy. We checked them all out looking for a space to accomodate a large group of guests for a bday celebration but they werent available for the date needed. I especially liked Jelani cause parking is great on that block and the space was perfect as well.
  • This was a response from another recent thread seeking children's birthday party space:
(but it could easily be great for you as well)

The Old Stone House in Park Slope (in park/playground near 4th Ave and 3rd St)

We had my sons 1st birthday party there and it was lovely. They charged $200 flat for the room rental. We ordered in bagels and dairy platters (tuna fish, egg salad, etc) from a place they recomended. We brought in soda, juice, water, etc. We got the room and had some time to set up and had to leave it broom clean. They do not have a full kitchen to prepare food but there is a fridge and a sink. It is right next to a park and there is an interesting museum dedicated to the Battle of Brooklyn downstairs. The times to use the room like this are limited but if you can work within that I feel it is the best bang for your buck. I picked up a plastic tablecloth roll and cut them to size. I purchased a disposable helium tank (they sell them at party stores or BJ's and Costco) and balloons for easy decorations and the cake came from BJ's (they sell a 1/4 a sheet cake vs the half sheet cake minimum at Costco). Honestly I can't say anything but great things about our experience there.

Weekends: $200/4hrs for the Great Room between 11am & 4 pm on Sat & Sun; $75 each additional hour.
