You can do the fabric recycling at the Grand Army Plaza farmer's market, or you can head down to the Goodwill in Downtown Brooklyn on Livingston.

Nope, that closed last year, sadly
However there is still the downtown one and the one on Atlantic over by Carroll Gardens.. -
What about the Armory? Or that church on Sterling and 6th that has the food pantry?
-
Darn, the SA on Flatbush must have closed just after I took 4 bags of clothes there. I hadn't noticed.

I'm pretty sure that there's one of those clothing donation bins near the bodega on St. Johns just west of Washington...

Armory (8th and 15th in PS) does take clothes (and books, and food, and probably anything else you care to get rid of) -
There is a church on Lincoln at Classen. People line up there for food and clothing. If you care to research the video of what happens to clothes given to SA and Goodwill don't be too discouraged. It's simple supply and demand..we give away more clothes to charity than the thrifty and needy buyers want or will buy. The clothes are bundled and sent overseas..most often to Africa. Bundles of ultra cheap US discarded clothes make it to market. Making the demand for new stuff less than zero..you can buy a brand new NY Knicks 2009 Div Champ pre made shirt for 2 cents why start the loom when millions of brand new shirts are available. I remember asking why all the child soldiers were wearing US logo shirts..The video is on youtube or PBS pretty heartbreaking after the boatload of clothes I gave away. Now I do hand to hand transfers only.

Just for additional info, in case someone needs it. There is a new thrift store on 4th ave & Bergen, next door to the new 99 cent store. Nice old ladies run it and they accept donations. I asked and they would be happy to take anything you got.
