they gave you a second free?
Btw, I don't have anything to add that's on-topic per se
(yes, I am attempting to avoid a Plan B trainwreck by going off topic)
I know, right? Crew's pretty expensive but I ran out and knew I needed more. Sometimes Marshall's has giant bottles for pretty cheap, no such luck today. I had to fall back on Plan B and go to Target where I was expecting to pay through the nose, but lo and behold, prominently displayed on the endcap in the personal care aisle at Target were bountious supplies of Crew conditioner pairs shrink wrapped together and emblazoned with a radiant red 2-for-1 sticker. The day was saved, all thanks to Plan B! -

whew. You are lucky that you did not need a safety escort.
In some places people can not get conditioner for their faux hawk, because community standards do not allow it and/or they have to walk thru a gauntlet to get one of the worlds most common, and safest operations: The application of conditioner to ones tall yellowish head.
I am glad we live somewhere that celebrates the faux hawk.
....this reminds me of that movie where Kevin Bacon drives a VW bug and a tractor so people can enjoy dancing in a barn.
Do you remember that movie, or was that before your time?
By the way, did you see I wrote Bacon?
.....mmmm, yummy, crispy, Bacon. -
Let's get back on topic - for all of the hoopla, how many times have the planets aligned within a Target pharmacy department, leading to an unfilled Plan B prescription?

why would this matter? -
Where do I even start. Usually, as all of you know, Whynot sticks to derailing topics by skewering people who are, at least, asking for significant attention. Here he seems to be doing so because he is bored.
Not being able to receive legal, prescribed services and medicine at the discretion at physicians and pharmacists has a huge impact. Perhaps not here in a city where there are lots of choices, but certainly in places where big boxes have replaced every small pharmacy.
If one's religion prevents one from performing one's job, that is a pretty serious disability and should be disclosed to both the corporation and clients. -
did she just say having a religion was a type of disability? Do they get SSI or SSD?
....that is so not politically correct. She is right, if we lived in Kansas we wouldn't be having this debate. Everyone knows that in Kansas, people do not have unprotected sex.
...and the world was created 10,000 years ago. -
i'm in love with your wife, whynot

P.S. Everyone knows that:
What is right is always popular, and What is popular is always right.
Just look at history.
oppression of minorities: never popular
that guy in Germany in the 40's: completely unpopular
etc, etc.
(sarcasm) -
He tries to derail and I reel it back in (with others completely missing the humour)... now he's trying an end-around to the Godwin... sheesh.

Humor!?
You are probably one of those people who blocks the sidewalk with strollers, brings their child into a bar, or doesn't pick up their dog's poop.
I hate people like you.
.....clearly you don't understand the gravity of this matter.
P.S. You must not like Bacon. Didn't you see I wrote bacon? -
I missed the bacon bit, but when you wrote "gravity," I saw "gravy," which lead to internal mmmmmm noises.

And I highly doubt a person who only believes in "healing through prayer" would become (and be employed as) a pharmacist. What would be the point in all that expensive education?
The company permits the pharmacist to interfere with people's health care. And as far as your rhetorical question, I would ask the same about a "pharmacist" that refused to fulfill their basic duties in filled prescriptions for birth control and other medications important for women. -
i do believe hat there is a place (sadly, not in hell) for pharmacists who feel this way--the same way i feel there is a place for physicians who won't give birth control or perform terminations: in religious pharmacies who state publicly that this is their stance. people should have a right to choose where they get their care or where they won't.
-
When it comes to religious objections of pharmacists, I'm concerned about areas where there are few options - where the big box store is all that's left for people to get their Rx, or has the best prices, has their employer's drug plan, etc.
Loving that lady with the gay son who spends a chunk of time Making A Point at Target in that video. The formerly populist state of Minnesota is getting all sorts of right wing nutters in elected office, so *right on* to the citizens who object to the people and companies funding those political campaigns.
When corporations make political contributions that I disagree with, I like to take my money elsewhere. If you are similarly inclined, you can write the bossman of Target: [email protected] -
Who is this guy running for governor, of which state, and what exactly is his message of "hate"?
-
from abc news.com:
When Randi Reitan heard about Target's $150,000 donation to a Minnesota-based political group backing a gubernatorial candidate with penchant for opposing gay rights, she marched straight into the popular superstore and cut up her store credit card.
"I had to speak up and so I decided to go to my Target, talk to the store manager and tell him that I just couldn't shop there anymore," said Reitan. "Then I cut up my Target Visa card."
Reitan, who says she has dedicated her life to gay rights after her son Jacob came out 10 years ago, isn't the only one upset by the discount department store's move.
Gay rights activists and loyal Target shoppers are furious with the company after it contributed $150,000 to MN Forward , a political group that has endorsed and is paying for ads for the Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer.
Emmer, who will face the winner of the Democratic gubernatorial primary and an independent candidate in the general election this November, is against gay marriage.
On Emmer's website he defines marriage as a "union between one man and one woman" and he has come under fire for his $250 contribution to a Christian rockband that has been known to speak harshly of gays.
Emmer told the Minnesota Star Tribune that the controversial rock band "You Can Run But You Cannot Hide," were "nice people," following band member Bradlee Dean's reported comments that Muslim countries that support execution of gays are "more moral than even the American Christians."
"These are nice people. Are we going to agree on everything? No," Emmer said of the band. "I really appreciate their passion and — you know what — I respect their point of view."

By the way, I didn't think Target came off too bad in the video. The staff was a little baffled and briefly protested the filming but otherwise it looked like a nice place to shop, and it looked like she got her $226 back without too much hassle. Would Key Food give her back her money like that? Would Target in Brooklyn?

Well, yes, it's somewhat difficult and can be taken to absurd lengths, but it's not crazy. If one is trying to be good person, it becomes significant that much of our morally-relevant influence on the world is a function of who gets our money. Companies that are good or bad actors thrive or fail because we support them or don't, and politicians get to carry out their agendas or get sent home largely because those companies and their executives support them or don't. Their actions are what most change the world for better and worse.
So, being a good person can have much more to do with who we give large sums of money to than whether we volunteer little bits of time or are nice to annoying old people or whatnot.
Because of that, I usually seek out the donation information for companies I do a lot of business with, and run them through campaignmoney.com to see who their executives are supporting. When a vendor or its executives have lined up on the wrong side—and I mean the immoral side—I've dumped them. Yes: where you buy a beer is not profoundly moral. But we spend a lot of money over the course of our lives, and that can be. -

when you feel the government is acting immoral , do you refuse to pay taxes? -

Our relationships to a government we democratically elect—and which can imprison us for not supporting it—are more complicated than our relationships to Target or Verizon.
So I do support ours, but yes, there is a point at which it is immoral to support a government, is there not? -
Shop smart. Shop S-Mart.
