Salon Biton for short haircut? — Brooklynian

Salon Biton for short haircut?

Hello,

My hair is very fine, super straight, and pretty long now, I want a very short bob or maybe even a pixie haircut. The last time I got a bob, I went to Bumble & Bumble and got the perfect cut. Is Shlomy good with short cuts?

  • I went to Shlomy a couple of times. I was happy with my cut, but I didn't like going to him. He gave me about 30 seconds of his time to explain what I wanted, then he cut my hair (really, REALLY pulling on it) and spent the rest of the haircut talking to everyone who walked in, answering the phone, doing everything else but focusing on his client.

I had been happy to find someone in my neighborhood, but between feeling like I was bothering Shlomy and (the bigger issue) the impossibility of getting an appointment at a convenient time (he's open only til 6, and closed on Sat. & Sun.), I found someone else. I now go to Dvir. It's on Bond Street.
  • You might try Louis at Harmony on 7th by Ocean's 8. A friend of mine and I, who both have the same kind of hair, use him. I have a very short cut that he does a good job of texturing.
  • Shlomy is the best.
  • Thanks, guys! Very helpful.
  • I'd contact Carmen. She's cut my hair for the past year or more. I also have fine straight hair and wear a bob-cut. she's also an expert colorist. The salon she works at is a close subway stop away and very chic and hip.

  • I'm a big Shlomy fan too. He's a character. He serves excellent coffee. And, if you're lucky, a beer or something stronger.
  • Shlomy is amazing. He has a strong personality that may not suit everybody, but he's great at what he does and his prices are extremely reasonable. I wouldn't go anywhere else for a haircut. Also, he is not closed both Saturday and Sunday.. just Saturday. If you ask nicely you can DJ on the record player and maybe slug back some nice bourbon.
  • HUGE Shlomy advocate - I have short hair and keep going back to him every 5 weeks. He just knows how to cut hair. Sure he has to multi-task, but would you rather go to Astor Place and fight for attention over there?

My wife loves the cut she gets from him too and her hair is shoulder length.

And yes, the bourbon and record player do help...
