    Homeowner, I think that is a different kind of embarassment. I think I would tell him, but might take a guess at how he would react in advance. For example, when a woman gets embarassed they might blush and/or get off at the next station.

    For some reason some men might think I have threatened or challenged their masculinity, and decide to punch or threaten me.

    As per WCW, seeing a boob on subway = good.
    As per Whynot, seeing a penis and then getting punched or threatened = bad.

    So,
    41 y/o while males (41WM) have an Obligation to point it out directly to Boob Lady: 3
    41WM's have an Obligation, but it can be met thru intermediary: 1
    41WM's have no obligation what so ever: 1
    41WM's can be unsure, there is no obligation: 1

    .....Drunken Rivival (the present honorary holder of the Brooklynian Horndog title) is going down! No one has successfully talked about breasts for this many posts. The title will soon be mine! (cue "Eye of the Tiger" Rocky music).

    Hamilton can keep his silly title, I didn't want it anyway. =P~

    Whynot originally posted this narrative in response to my posts on another thread. He compared my posts to the black woman's escaped breast (http://www.brooklynian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=58977).

    In the original thread, I observed whynot threatening to "out" a black man who has been very vocal about racial issues on this board. In other words, whynot said he could and would make this man's identity known on the board. He later denied that there was a threat involved. I will not discuss this event anymore.

    In its original context, the race of whynot's "boob" was important to whynot. The black breast must have triggered an association in his mind with my posts.

    Also, the mature black breast is a profound symbol culturally. We don't attach the same meanings to the white breast. For this reason, the nobel prize winner, Toni Morrison, has used the symbol of the black breast often. I suggest reading "Song of Solomon" or "Beloved" to see how her work uses this symbol.

    Given the collective cultural meanings behind this particular symbol, I don't think that whynot would have offered up the example of an exposed white breast. I'm certain that he will object though to say that his example was race-blind.

    Um, as someone who was raised in the US, race is one of many factors that I use to see everyone around me. I would like to believe, however, that it is not my sole or primary lens.

    As a result of riding on the subway and living in Brooklyn, black women are not remarkable to me. I submit, in this case, that the most memorable and noticable part of this woman was her breast.

    But horndog is such a great word, and this thread caused me to use it. So, while it is really about a slightly awkward situation and one's responsibility to intervene, to me it will forever be remember as "the horndog thread".

    Others may remember it as evidence of inner failure and haphazardness, perhaps even "racism".

    Next time I'll describe it as supple, ample, Lucious or something like that so I get everyone off on the right foot.

    I probably would have ended up with less thoughtful posters though.

    all I know is that if I ever see an exposed WHITE breast on the subway, I'm going to have to document the entire situation and take pictures of the boob so I am not perceived as a pervert, sexist, or racist. This is a great plan

    WCW will get what she wants, and I'll be vindicated here. (but probably in jail in real life)
