Shoutout- thumbs up to Prospect Park Animal Clinic
With all the complaints about vets and threads asking for vet recommendations, I just wanted to give a thumbs up to my vet (who I just returned from) at Prospect Park Animal Clinic. I initially brought the pup to Animal Kind and, while I was happy with the service, I did feel like they pushed a lot of additional testing on me for a healthy 13 week old dog.
I went to PPAC for Bruno's neutering after discovering that they accepted Muffins Certificates (horray cheap!) They were very professional during that procedure, didn't suggest a bunch of unnecessary stuff and the dog came back microchipped and no worse for wear.
I just brought him in for his annual and the experience was awesome. I was seen on-time and they were very kind. He got all of his vaccines and some blood drawn while a tech held him and kissed his head, he was then given lots of treats (apparently he didn't like the low-cal crunchy ones so the tech found some soft ones for him totally on her own free will although I insisted that he wouldn't die without a second treat haha) and the cost seemed reasonable (a little under $200 for the visit, 3 year rabies/parvo or whatever it is, heartworm bloodtest and 6 mo of heartworm meds.) The advice I received from my questions seemed down to earth and they really didn't seem like they were trying to gouge me at all.
The whole visit lasted 20 minutes, during which I was with the vet the entire time, not a tech which seemed standard at Animal Kind. The lobby is clean and inviting with no animal smell. The animals waiting didn't seem traumatized and bruno even tried to follow the vet when we left so he obviously wasn't scared.
Thumbs way up for this vet, I fully intend on taking him and any future pets there in the future!

I second your observations about Animal Kind.

Another PPAC fan here. I appreciate how they have discussed the optional vaccines with me and not pushed any the shots (or any treatments like tooth cleaning). Last time we were in, we were in the exam room with the vet within a few minutes of checking in.

Another recommendation for Prospect Park Animal Clinic. We've been going there for many, many years, having "moved" from Animal Kind. They've always given us great service, and more importantly, they have been extremely professional and compassionate at the end of a couple of our pets' lives.

I also recommend Prospect Park Animal Clinic. They were very compassionate with my aging dog. Nice, caring people.
Howdy, Stranger!
