Storage Deluxe
Has anyone here used Storage Deluxe, with good or bad experiences to report? I am only really going to be storing clothes and other less-valuable items for a few months, but still...would love to know how secure it is and how the staff is.
Also, is anyone CURRENTLY storing stuff at Brothers? How does the new-management-takeover by Storage Deluxe work? I'm leaving the country mid-October and not sure if I should try to use them or just go to the one on Grand. From my location, I guess the difference in distance is probably negligible, though.

I used the Storage Deluxe at 21st St in Long Island City to store the contents of my apartment for several months. They were very secure. Each renter is given an entry code (which is revoked when you stop renting). That code is used to access the storage area and the elevator. When you enter the code in the elevator, it will only let you go to the floor where your locker/room is. I found the whole experience very professional and well organized. The facility was spotlessly clean, I never saw any evidence of vermin. The staff said that they are vigilant about bugs, rats and mice, but they have no control over whether someone brings roaches or bed bugs in with their stuff. None of my stuff was stolen or damaged. I never saw evidence that my lock was interfered with.

we were brothers customers who became storage deluxe customers. they seem okay so far.
they are having to fix one of the elevators in the brothers building, and so some of the storage units are out of commission. other than that, i don't think there's any concern about getting a place in that building. they haven't raised our rent...yet.
