Willoughby and Clinton Ave
Hi. My husband and I are looking at 2apts...oneon CLinton Ave at Willoughyb and the other is in Carroll Gardens, on 4th Place. I know this is a Fort Greene Forum, but any objective advice is appreciated. I think Carroll Gardens semes to have more of a community vibe, with more going on. The apt on Clinton is stunning, but I wonder about where we can go out to eat/drink, what it will be like for me coming home on the train late, and, most importantly, how we will get to know our neighbors. It seems people in Carroll Gardens chat more with their local inhabitants.
We really want to live in Ft Greene, but these are our concerns.
Thanks so much!!

There's as much of a "community" in Fort Greene as there is in Carroll Gardens, in my opinion -- you just have to know where to go. Dekalb between Clinton and South Portland is a big stretch of restaurants, shops, bars and cafes where you'll see tons of people all day and all evening long. I also think Fort Greene is a little more diverse than Carroll Gardens. Of course, I'm biased because I live there. But I can definitely see the desire to live in BoCoCa. I'm thinking of moving there myself.

Also, I've never felt unsafe walking from the G train late at night. Of course, never let your guard down, but I don't think you'll have any problems there.

Subject: Re: Willoughby and Clinton Ave
My girlfriend and I have lived on Hall Street (around the corner from the intersection you mentioned) for about a year now and we've gotten to know a lot of people on our block pretty well. It's an extremely diverse block (both age and race-wise) and everyone is friendly and says hi to each other. I don't know much about BoCoCa's habits, but we've found this area of Ft. Greene/Clinton Hill to be very friendly.
As for social areas, the Dekalb strip is really nice. And there are quite a few bars and restaurants on Myrtle Avenue as well as sprinkled throughout the neighborhood.
Howdy, Stranger!
