Energy Plus? — Brooklynian

Energy Plus?

Has anyone switched their electricity supplier to Energy Plus? I had never considered moving away from ConEd, but I got a thing in the mail for a tie-in with Delta skymiles and am thinking about it. The only alternative energy supplier stories I've heard have been about IDT and those are obvs disastrous. Will I totally regret switching?

TIA,
.jarvis.

  • I have heard that this is a scheme (albeit a legal one) that doesn't save you any money. I don't know this personally, but I've read many complaints about them. Here's one site: http://bit.ly/d8v5Ce
  • My husband and I switched a number of months ago (an AA miles tie in got me hooked), and our first bill was much higher than normal. When I called to discuss, the explanation I was given was that there was a higher demand for electricity at that time, and even if I still had ConEd my bill would be higher. I cancelled on the spot, and it took another billing cycle before I could be returned to ConEd. Second and final bill under Energy Plus? Much higher than my usual ConEd. As much as I hate ConEd, until we're able to install solar panels we're sticking with them :-(
