Gap Corps! and Berm Cleaning!

Dear Neighbors,

Welcome to Fall! Our Summer break was unexpectedly lengthened by September's tornado, but we have 2 more Plaza Street Berm Clean-up Days planned; the first is on Saturday, October 23 at 10:00 a.m. Please also mark your calendar for the second date: November 20.

Special note about the tornado: We're fortunate and grateful that tornado damage in the Berms got cleaned up fairly quickly. Right after the storm, fallen branches made them virtually impassible. We advocated for the Berms, though, and Prospect Park Alliance was able to direct repair crews back to the Berms much earlier than they originally expected! As you're no doubt aware, damage in Brooklyn was severe - some 180 trees in the Park were irreparably damaged. Clean-up will take months and it's expensive work, not forseen in anyone's budget. The Alliance is seeking donations; if you're able, please contribute. www.prospectpark.org

On October 23, we'll resume our regular Berm clean-up work. This fall we may also have a chance to plant woodland aster seedlings in some of the bare spots in the berms! Stay tuned for more details.

Send this notice to neighborhood list serves or online bulletin boards.
