Dental Phobe in need of a Dentist! — Brooklynian

Dental Phobe in need of a Dentist!

Hello,

We've just moved to the area and my less than 6 month old crown broke last night (unfortunately it was done in the UK so I can't go and bang on their door to demand a free replacement). I've now made and cancelled two different appts with various dentists in the area this morning, after reading some pretty horrific reviews across the net.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a dentist in our area? There seem to be quite a few in Park Slope with good recommendations, but also requiring a small gold bar in return for their services. We have insurance, so that's not a problem... just want someone who knows what they're doing and don't have a butchery review...!!

Thanks :)

  • Not in the area, but I am very, very impressed with my dentist and his entire office staff:

  • Also not in the area, but this dentist is great (it took me over ten years to find a decent dentist in NYC), and so are the hygienists and receptionist. My former neighbor (a model) recommended him, so I knew he had to be good because she is VERY particular!

  • Thanks for the recommendations! I eventually got a last minute appt with Dr. Emil Sabbione's practice on Plaza St, and was seen by his colleague. Good, fast and no pressure to do unnecessary procedures.... would recommend them so far!
  • Be leary of dentists in NYC and area...nothing to fool around with...especially "holistic" as part of their service!

  • I'm also relatively new to NYC - and Brooklyn - and I spent quite a bit of time researching good, affordable dentists in my area. A lot of people recommended Dr. Rosenkranz, on 8th Avenue. I've been there a few times since and I'm totally happy with him, the other specialists at his clinic, and his support staff. They're all great!

I also recommend Rosenkranz in Park Slope. I've been to him for the last year and a half and have had no complaints.
  • Thanks! I may swap after all. Just received my receipt to find that the one x-ray and smoothing down of my tooth (nothing needed to be done with the crown after all) justified a $300.00 'emergency pain' treatment!!??!! Is that about normal? Think I may need heart surgery after this one.... ;)

  • My dentist is the first I've ever liked, and I have a pretty messed up mouth. He's not in the nabe, but he's close enough!
