Mods — Brooklynian

Mods

I recently noticed all of my postings in the Politics section have been tampered with. Anywhere where I typed barry or gore or clinton etc have been changed to President Obama, Vice President Al Gore, President Clinton etc.

Now I've been told it's "not such a huuuuuge deal" and if it "floats my boat" I can change them back.

I'm sure the Mods will make this Poll Global so I and others can see how many Brooklynian's would mind if their posts were tampered with and not make such a big deal out of it.

We already had a new poster start a thread about Carnivore and Mod Abuse. How many other posts of Brooklynian's have been tampered with and or unnecessarily deleted.

  • moving this to Ask Brooklynian, since it is not a PS-specfic issue.
  • Thanks to everyone for your candid comments here and elsewhere.

Please note that the Mods and Admins are indeed listening, discussing it among ourselves and committed to implementing new policy based on your feedback intended to restore greater confidence in management and sense of community here.

Your patience and ongoing ideas and support here is very welcome and appreciated.

Well, maybe you can make it a Global Poll as I intended. I mean seeing as how posts are so easily tampered with here I'm sure it won't be a problem for you.
  • can you not edit your own post to make it a poll? if not, let me know what choices you'd like, and i'll make it one. i'll be offline until about 2, and then only for 20 minutes, fyi.

as for global, my vote is no. feel free to ask an admin to overrule me.

Is that the real Jeffrey or some sort of auto response from a "Jeffrey" database?
    I wonder.

Well I did add a poll in my original post and something went wrong. Like I said I want to know if people mind or don't mind having their posts altered by the Mods since I was told it's not a huge deal.

I have had mods fix tags, or quotes or even locations (like wrong address for a store, etc.) and it does not bother me. Usually I see a line in a different color with a MOD NOTE telling me was done. I have never seen them change the wording or context of what I was saying.

Lucky for you. In my case they have and have not denied it. Like they told me, if it "floats my boat" they'll let me go back and edit all my posts.

Was the context or wording changed in your posts?

Yes. Like I said where I typed barry it was changed to President Obama. If I typed gore it was changed to Vice President Al Gore. If I typed clinton it was changed to President Bill Clinton. I only went back a few months and who knows what else what changed that I didn't notice. Who remembers every word they type. No reason whatsoever for them to change what I wrote as in the examples above. Nor were there any "mod notes" when they did.

I'm still waiting for them to change this to a Global Poll.

Thanks for posting the poll only to have the Mods take it away. I guess they're too chicken to see how others feel.
  • Mod Note:
eggcream, I'm pretty sure there's a quorum against having the mods change words. It's already counter to the policy of the site. Calling names is also counter to the policy of the site. Your concerns have been addressed by your host, Daily Heights
  • I would just like to say that I enjoyed the progressive nesting effect in that series between egg cream stacey & sweet tea.
