(Just an FYI, not affiliated in any way)
In this age of tighter budgets and big retailers' online Black Friday crazy sales we might forget the little guy on the corner, the ages-old family run store down the block or the new small shop or business nearby that's opened with great ambitions.
This Saturday, the day after Black Friday, will hopefully be their big day:

November 27, 2010 is the first-ever Small Business SaturdaySM.
A day to come together in support of the small businesses we love.
The shops and restaurants that employ our neighbors and reinvest our money close to home.
The businesses that are the heartbeat of our communities and local economies.
Take the pledge to support small business. Join the movement.

Let's not forget to help them and their employees have happy holidays, too.
Scope out local shops as you come and go over the next few days, and hit 'em up this Saturday for whatever holiday and/or routine shopping you can.
Go to it, people!

Do we know of any Brooklyn businesses or merchants' associations that are actually promoting this? Are there any local Brooklyn efforts to promote it? It would be good to get some listed here.
