Brooklyn Back When - Open Thread

Hi Patsy,

Well this Cataract Surgery and the work (drops, Ointment etc;) tie you up quite a bit but we have a few of our deco's up outside and a few inside. By the end of this weekend I hope to be finished. We do not do quite as much down here as I did in Bergenfield NJ but we still do quite a bit. Each year we cut down a bit due to necessity. I can not go up on the ladder anymore so no more lights on the gutters or high up in the trees. Plenty on the bushes etc:. Inside we still make our house like a Christmas wonderland. We used to host a good size Holiday Party and show off our deco's but that has been curtailed because of both of our conditions. Two years ago we had a dessert party where we served all kinds of cakes, pies and candies. Before that we usually had Hore's D'ourves parties with all kinds of goodies. Age and poor health does slow you down. Yesterday we went to the Mall and got most of our gifts for each other (Carol & I). We also mailed our gifts up North for the Children, Grandchildren & Carol's Mother. Mostly Gift Cards for the adults and cash for the kids.

Debbie, it is not cold all winter. We go into streaks where it gets cold like this and all of a sudden we will have a 70 degree day.When we first moved here I used to decorate outside in shorts & a tee-shirt. Now it is a heavy jacket & jeans. Hopefully the cold will be short-lived. The further South you go the warmer it normally is. Miami & Ft Lauderdale are the warmest on the East coast and Naples on the West Coast.

Hi Patsy, Anthony and Debbie,

My brother in law is at Sloan now, he will continue to get a heavy dose of chemo every day until his transplant on the 15th or 16th. So far he is feeling ok, he has been there since Monday....he is just going stir crazy, he is in a room all by himself and he cannot go outside his room....so he has all the time in the world to just think, and that is not good....I told him today I was going to send him my Christmas cards to write out, he told me he would do it, too bad I had mine printed out this year....LOL

Going to do some laundry and then clean up a little, I have been out everynight this week, I just can't get caught up.
