Where Can I Buy Lemongrass?

I checked the Met and that new "Asian" grocery but neither of them carry lemongrass.

This soup ain't gonna season itself...i don't think.

  • Naturaland above the Q train stop on Flatbush usually has it.

  • Union Market on 6th ave and Union has it.

  • Fairway in Red Hook usually has it if you're mobile or over that way.

  • The Food Coop has it.

  • I am not sure but what about the Green Market at GAP on Saturdays?

  • It seems to be a regular item now at the Coop, along with fresh horseradish, burdock, and salsify. It's the gnarly section of produce, end of the aisle, top shelf.

I don't think I've seen it at the Greenmarket, except for fresh plants to grow in the spring/summer. I don't know that I've even seen it at Union Sq Greenmarket with the other Asian ingredients, come to think of it. Have you?

  • Thanks for the input. I'll check out Natureland. I never think about going there for some reason. And if they don't have it, onwards to Union Market. Fairway is a trek and the Coop and I aren't on speaking terms.

  • Hope that you found the lemongrass by now--I know that Natural Land has it--in the cooler that's against the wall closest to the street.

It's kinda sad how well I know the layout of that store.

  • ...and surprisingly, FreshDirect.
