  • Hi Patsy, You too!!! I will call you this week, to do the book thing...is that ok...

  • Hello All,Have been very grouchy for a few days so I have not posted. Still grouchy but did not want to let it go further without posting. Terry-The problem you were having with Suzie's posting was the same problem we had a few weeks ago. I COULD see Suzie's postings this time. Suzie- Thanks for the pictures of my Alma-Mater but of course when I went there it was Manual NOT John Jay. A man named Horace Mann Snyder fought for Manual to be built as an acedemic H.S. but with certain shop classes mandatory. He felt that students, boys & girls should know how to use their hands as well as there minds. Hence the name MANUAL TRAINING. When I graduated it was with an Acedemic Regents Diploma but I had also taken (and passed) Sheetmetal Shop, Woodshop, Mechanical Drawing and Machine shop. In the sheetmetal shop I made my Father an ash tray in the form of a small coal skuttle. In Machine shop I made a ball peen hammer and in mechanical drawing we drew blueprint type plans for buildings. Woodshop I believe was mostly picture frames. It made for a very well rounded education. Still had to take History, English, Spanish, Math including Geometry & Algebra, Civics, Phys Ed etc:. I think the ideas that Horace Mann Snyder were great and they should do more of it in High Schools everywhere... 8)

  • HI WARREN...WE ALL HAVE OUR 'MOMENTS'.. LOL
