  • HEY WARREN

I GOT A FULL SET OF DISHS THAT MY MOTHER IN LAW GOT BY GOING TO THE MOVIES WITH MY WIFE

I LOOKED THEM UP AS A COLLECTION AND THER WORTH $200.00

  • FUNNY STORY

    PATSY MAY REMEMBER THIS

YEARS AGO I GOT MY HANDS OH A SET OF DISES DATED 1886

THEY WHERE MADE IN ENGLAND I GOT THEM FROM MIKE THE JUNK MAN

    COST ME $20.00

ANYWAY THEY WHER ON MY KITCHEN TABLE MY WIFE AND MY CUZ WHERE GOING TO PUT THE EXTION IN THE TABLE SO THEY SPREED THE TABLE OPEN AND ALL THE DISIES FELL ON THE FLOOR

NO MORE DISIES ONLY A GRAVY BOAT

I LOOKED THEM UP A FEW YEARS AGO AND THEY WHERE WORTH ABOUT $1,000.00 I STILL HAVE THE GRAVY BOAT IT'S WORTH $50.00

  • Okay Anthony, no offense taken. I was not kidding about the divorce story. Folks, be careful what you type for the whole world to see.

One of the few TV shows I watch is "American Pickers". These two guys travel all over and buy things from people, fix them up a bit and sell them. They evidently make a pretty good living at it. When I think about some of the things we left in the house on 12th street I cry in my beer. Who would have thought that stuff you considered almost junk could be worth a bundle. I can't believe what people are willing to pay for things like Lunch Boxes, Old toys and games, signs, yes, believe it or not they make a bundle on old gas station and other signs. Also old Gas Pumps, hand tools that went out years ago. Oh well what is past is past! :sunny:

  • Anthony, you asked "What is for Supper". Well I run into this problem fairly often. Carol has IBS in a bad way. Quite often she has to eat very little and very plain. Meanwhile my fat body needs nourishment. There is only the two of us. Tonight I will make plain Pasta for her and pasta with a sauce I make up with canned tomatoes, tomato sauce and Italian spices. We will both survive!

Tomorrow is a big day for me. I will get the results of my semi-annual PSA test and we will find out if I need further treatment for the Prostate Cancer. I also will have a Cystoscopy looking for Tumors in the Bladder (have had 2 cancerous ones removed in the past). If they find any Cancer I will have to go in for day surgery to remove it and then go back to Cyst :cry:oscopies every 3 months for 2 years, if clean, then every 6 months, if clean once a year. Like I said it will be a BIG DAY for me! I would describe a Cystoscopy for you all but it is a bit gruesome to describe. Just picture a Doctor going in places they normally stay away from with instruments and go up a one way street in the wrong direction. :help:

Speaking of the movies. Do you remember when the Globe had "Dishes" night. You would get a different dish every time you went on "Dishes" night. If you went often enough you got pretty close to a complete set. It was almost like the Gas Stations who gave you a free glass every time you filled up, I bet some people are still using those glasses. That was back when they cleaned your windshield, checked your oil, etc without being asked. My how times change!!! :bounce:

I remember waiting on line with Grandma and Mommy for the penny sale in Germain's, wish I had that stuff now worth a lot of money

  • Hey everyone! Does anyone remember plaid stamps? I'm not sure where you got the stamps but I remember licking those stamps and filling up a book with them. Then we brought them to a place on 5th avenue (not sure, near 12th street?) and redeemed them for gifts.

  • WOW

HELL YES I REMEMBER PLAID STAMPS I STILL HAVE BOOKS OF THEM FROM MY MOTHER IN LAWS STUFF

  • ALSO GOT LOADS OF COSTUME JEWELRY FROM WOOLWORTHS WITH THE TAGS STILL ON THEM

  • I really don't remember what my mom got with those plaid stamps but I do remember my house was filled with "knick

knacks" that my mother loved. They were usually a pair of figurines like a farmer boy and girl or two little birds.

And I had to dust all those knick knacks every Saturday!

  • Zachriel,

OMG always thinking of you. I was really worried that you were not on.

Yes I remember licking those dam stamps for my Mom and putting them in the book.

knick knacks yes yes yes Germains from the penny sale and i had to dust them also. wish I had them now they are worth money.

I am so happy you posted. I really thought something happened to you.

  • Hi Everyone,

    Hope everyone is doing good....

Here is something to put a smile on your face>

    Subject: Undeniable Adult Truths [b]

    1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die

    2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

    3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger

    4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

    5. How the heck are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

    6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

    7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5. I'm pretty sure

I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

    8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the

    person died.

    9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

    10. Bad decisions make good stories.

    11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work

when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the

    rest of the day.

    12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't

want to have to restart my collection...again.

    13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if

I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I

did not make any changes to.

    14. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

    15. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

    16. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or

Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.

    17. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.

    18. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

    19. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?

    20. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!

    21. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty,

and you can wear them forever.

    22. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

    23. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time.

    24. The first testicular guard, the "Cup," was used in Hockey in 1874 and

the first helmet was used in 1974. That means it only took 100 years for

men to realize that their brain is also important.

    Ladies.....Quit Laughing.

  • Happy Birthday Festina!!! Have a great day...

  • [b][i] HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FESTINA!!!!

  • Well, Good news folks. I just got back from the Urologist. PSA <0.1 (that is as good as it gets)

Cystoscope showed NO TUMORS in the bladder. Now I just have to drink plenty of liquids and make sure my urine track keeps open. I also have antibiotics to take. Now if the root canal the dentist wants to do comes off okay and I do not go into A-Fib with the ticker, I will be doing okay. Of course being on Coumadin makes many tests and all surgery kind of dangerous. When I had the cataracts done in the fall I had to go off the Coumadin for a week. That is scary because if you are in A-Fib and not on Coumadin you are in more danger for a stroke. Patsy, thank you for your concern.Carol said Hi back. Judy, I liked your "Undeniable Truths" list. Carol liked it too.
