  • I wonder if Absolut paid her for that post.

  • Daffy IS as DAFFY one writes!

If there ever was a charm to this building or its owner or her daughters it has faded long ago.

  • ^^so very, very very true!!!!!

  • Can someone fill me on as to why everyone rags on this lady so much? (and be more creative than "The blogfest had a sponsor 2 years ago")

  • I don't know for others, but writing a column called "Smartmom" and then referring to herself as that in the column is a good start. Then she goes on to call herself Smartmom while writing about things like letting her teenage kid use the check cashing store to get cash from his paycheck instead of doing what any...rational parent should do and help the kid get some ID and open a bank account. I think there was also a multi-part series about replacing her couch.

  • The Landmark was fucking awesome.

  • Only a nut case would write charmingly about a dangerous building that would probably fall apart in a heavy dew. Just another transplanted trustafarian Upper West Sider posing in Park Slope. The woman's writings have no juice.

  • Have always disliked "smartmom" and her writings. As for the Landmark, it was a weird weird bar in it's day. Served warm beer and they gave you hats when you walked in. As for Mrs. Nash, well, she's just another story altogether............

  • The weird thing is that 2 years ago OTBKB called the building "an ugly mess" and "the house that neglect built" and said Dorothy Nash is "one of those people who thinks everyone should have to look at her garbage."

    Why the change of heart?

I am intrigued about the building as well, I live on the block and walk by it every day, but art gallery or not, the building is an accident waiting to happen.

Here is what I know about the 187 7th Ave.
