  • Mentioned over in the "The Pit is for sale" thread on PLG just now: this is only hearsay, mumbled by the manager of Brooklyn Beer & Soda last week, but he seemed to think the landlord at 648 Washington might be looking to replicate the existing beverage business in that space.

Anyone else notice the "For Sale" banner on the former Mario's Garage on the corner came down about the same time BB&S moved out this week? Same owner, apparently. Coincidence...?

  • Clayfilms, yes I will get my granny cart and heard that way.

I have also seen Brooklyn Beer and Soda delivery vans, and suppose that could pose a solution as well.

Re: the vacated space. I hope the landlord finds a tenant that will occupy both floors; The second floor was vacant and I assume it can't be used for residential as presently certified.

What are yall crying about? They moved a mile south! Hop on a bike and pipe down...lol This place is great! They're the only place I can find my Wolavers Altgracia Coffee Porter.

I buy by the case. Oh well.

I'm sorry. I was cold. And it IS nippy out.

On the other hand, the "granny" shopping carts are amazing and super cheap at just about every 99 cent store in the hood.

  • that is a shame. i didn't see it coming. was there a few weeks ago, and they seemed fine.

  • More or less confirming my January post re the landlord aiming to replicate the beverage biz, tonight a crew is installing new coolers along the south wall, and flyers stuck to the windows give instructions on where to drop mail for "Brooklyn Beer".

Also, Clayfilms - a DOB permit on the glass shows a change of use to retail store plus two-family. Looks like the entire building will soon be occupied. And those apartments should be massive.

And you can put away your granny cart.

  • This is good news.

So, we are getting a different beer distributor? Dare I dream of beer and snacks? ....beer, cheese and sandwiches would go nicely together in that large space.

  • This place looks close to re-opening with a beer distributor. Just walked by and the fridges are once again filled with beer and the shelves are about half stocked!

    Yay!

  • i so thrilled to hear that they could be opening back up!

Ive been walking by and not knowing what my life was going to look like without easy access to kegs. Then cursing the gentrification of neighborhood and for it changing so much that I could no longer roll out of the house and get a beer that most people have never heard of.

    I am relieved.

  • When it opens, we should post celebratory music.

  • It won't be long

  • So is it the same distributer?

  • I have no idea. All I know was that they were stocking the shelves today when I walked by and took this shot.

  • xlizellx: Revisiting my January post, shortly before the former proprietors moved over the hill to Washington and Sterling:

  • Soft opening today. No prices on anything so I can't comment on that, but decent selection and 18 tap lines. I forget the exact name - Prospect Heights Beet or something like that. Definitely not redo of the old place.

  • 18 taps?!

  • Today's report: Place is now open, yet not fully stocked.

  • do they have that rich boy beer?

  • Nope.

    Perhaps it is on order.
