First I saw "barbers", then I saw "#WE SHAVE ROCKS".

lol i saw wash ave i'm like huh they going to wash some ave of filth and junk alright!!!
-
Slowly, the merchant association is trying to change the block's image.
-
Doesn't sound comparable to the 5th ave one (or even the vanderbilt ones) but I respect them doing something and may go out to support.
-
Last years event was maybe 300 people.
I think all of the merchants realize that they are in an improving district, but not one that is close to what 5th Ave has become.
-
Oh I just noticed these were two different events. Whats with the emphasis on fashion? lol... ROCKS! makes me think music.
-
5th has enough mass of people to support the stores.
Washington ave around it still has alot of under utilize buildings.
-
whynot, what ever happened to the vanderbilt ones? Think they're ever coming back?
-
I think Vanderbilt has realized it does not need to spend money on advertising and events.
...wealth just flows to it.

Being listed in the NYT is still fun:

It is isn't as exciting as making the NYT, but being listed in the Patch is still a good thing.

How many gunshots at this event. I'll start a pool - mine guess is that with the rain, there'll only be three shots fired.
-
If you are right, that would be three more shots than we had in the prior two festivals.
As in prior years, this event will be a great opportunity to meet your neighbors and Washington Avenue Merchants.
Rain or shine.
-

Aforementioned Double Dutch Team.
-
That was fun. Would have been great if it were bigger than a single block, too!
-
Glad you liked it.
The team worked hard, and had fun, making it happen:

....see you next year.

I went and thought it was a really great mix of people. It's nothing like a St. John's block party or the Labor Day party where there's tons of booze...
-
Sadly we missed it this year but went last year, it was amusing to see Rohan from NOK automotive officiating over the dog show.
Congrats to all those who put this together. You can count on this being 5 blocks long, then 10 blocks long, in the not so distant future.
-
Sorry you missed it.
Here's a video of it: http://vimeo.com/m/49007267
