Just spoke to the cops, they spoke to him. They were laughing in disbelief. They said that the next time it happens they'll arrest him. No police report though.

When you own a dog in NYC, most other local people who own dogs have made a mental note of you and your dog.

I think all I would need to know is a general description of the guy and his dogs. Then I would add "gets really pissed off for almost any perceived slight", and be able to get some additional info....

I am waiting on advice on whether or not i can safely post security camera footage, after which i'll be happy to post it. I'd like everyone to know what happened.

Mamacita, I inferred that Heidi was in the process of getting advice from trusted friends as to whether posting this material and involving the media would be safe given this man's history, and her proximity.

If I were her, I think I would wait and see how he responds to the message "if you smear poop on my door again I will involve the police".

I think I would let the next move be his. Hopefully he will realize that Heidi is not to be messed with.

As stated above, dog owners may be your best resource.

In addition to his photo, the fact that your guy has two medium size dogs (one sheppard mix, one blond mutt) will help folks identify him.

Poopetrators are not as rare as anyone would like.

If you have ever worked at a prison or psychiatric hospital, you know that some inmates/patients use feces as a way to rebel against the walls and staff.

OMG this tread keeps getting better. Multiple people smearing poop on doors!! How can this be?

The wanna be mental health worker in me wonders if the motivations behind some of these smearings is similar to "institutional rebellion" I describe above.

I.E. Could people who perceive themselves as controlled and oppressed be rebelling against those whom they perceive as their rulers by smearing dog feces against their new fancy, gentrified doors?

...it is just a theory. I probably was just exposed to too much Che in college. I continue to root for the "tools of the oppressors": the police.

Yours seems to have that Intermittent Explosive Disorder thing.

People with that condition seem to be attracted to the various extremes of the political spectrum. There are so many famous examples that could be provided, but I will refrain.

that's hardly what i expected. he didn't seem crazy, angry or even focused on the job. sort of a drive-by poop smearer. so he walks by, does the deed -- and this is confirmed by the two ladies, right? because you can't tell in the video -- doesn't even break stride as he doing it, and then comes back and cleans it up? strange indeed.

@Why_Not, look at minute 3:59. He walks by with a bag in hand, smears it, and keeps walking. Very smooth. In the second video on the playlist, you can see the people who discover it taking pictures -- i have posted them below. In the second pic you can see that he used an ENTIRE turd which fell to the ground after he smeared it on the lock. In the third video you can see him wiping it away with a towel.

@Onandon, if you had poop smeared after a dispute with him, i would bet money that it's him. He's very vindictive and doesn't really seem entirely in control. The cops have said if he ever does this again they'll just straight up arrest him -- you may want to report it if/when it happens again, and make the cops aware that Lenny is threatening you. His full name is Leonard Goodstein, i have been told. You can search him, he's got some weird pics online for an art gallery where he's dressed like Moses and the address for the gallery is a park? Weird stuff.

@Greenleaf i wonder if you, too, or someone at your building, found themselves in an altercation with Lenny?
