  • Ilovefranklinavenue has been posting a bit about the place. I'm excited about the Blue Marble news, though!

    Here's one post about it:

  • The sign in the window today said it would open in 5 days.

  • Wait, candy cigars AND Blue Marble ice cream!?! Right around the corner on Franklin, no less?

Hmmm. I predict long lines of ironic white folks. However, just this once, I may actually be one of them.

    And you know what else?............waffles!!!

    (Heard from a reliable source.)

  • I'm sitting here watching my clock and calender, bring it on! I am ready for this.

  • Starting yesterday they now have donuts!! They are from Dough -- and are a.m.a.z.i.n.g! Not sure if it's every day or only weekends, but this is awesome!!!

  • This new place is thriving.

I hope she does soup, chili and stews once the weather cools.

  • Went to a kids birthday party there today. The kids had a blast! Ice cream Delicious. Cake from Lily and Fig bakery a couple doors down. Bought a gift from across the street at Owl and Thistle General Store (cool gifts and greeting cards and an assortment of other things, opened 3 weeks ago).

  • Oh and it's the candy/ice cream store is called "The Candy Rush."

  • oh no! Dough - too close to home. At least I can resist since it is bike ride away. Now there is no defense against these donuts.

Heh. My wife and daughter were there as well.

  • They had some live jazz in there yesterday around 4pm and it was really nice. The girls behind the counter said that this will be an every Sunday afternoon thing.

  • Yes, they are among the local businesses figuring out that the new folks don't need to be at a bar to be entertained.

  • Looks really nice inside

  • The cinnamon ice cream is delicious!

  • They have Dough,, the donuts are fantastic and I agree the cinnamon is great stuff

  • Whynot, you mentioned something about The Candy Rush being closed. I didn't even realize this. Is it a permanent closure? What's going on?

  • The owners of Candy Rush own the building it is in.

The Candy Rush store will not return. I know what is coming, but have been asked to be quiet about it. Suffice it to say they are adapting to the changing surroundings...

  • Glad to know the owners are opening up something else. Sad to see the sugar go.

  • Don't be surprised if some of the sugar and ice cream appears at Taste Buds (a sandwich shop they own directly across the street), once Spring arrives.

PS the stock will be new, not left over from the prior store.

  • Looks like I'm gonna scoop Whynot on this one!

    Welcome Cool Pony

  • I had totally forgotten that this was now public info. I would have scooped Brownstoner had I remembered.

  • It would be lovely to move away for the excess coffee and liquor. When will we get a pet food place, a spa, a salad bar, a small fitness center where exercise classes could be offered. Pet grooming would also be lovely. A jewelry boutique or an optical store. Everybody is doing the same thing that's why several people have decided to leave the area to spend their monies out of the community because the new businesses follow the same model.

  • Chloeroyale: There is already a pet food place on Classon, between Park and Prospect. And there's pet grooming on Sterling (between Washington and Classon). And for salads, try Bella Greens on Franklin. Want fitness classes? There's a place over on Sterling, right by Franklin.

  • Don't forget Lady J jewlery. Chloeroyal, you ever been to Crown Heights before? 5 out of 6 of those places exist already and there might already be a spa on Franklin as well.

  • sounds like launchpad 2.0 - meh!

  • I'm gonna presume that the big green awning that says "Franklin Eyewear," just south of the parkway, that's been there for at least 10 years, is an optical store.

  • There is also a pet food store and groomer on St. Johns & Nostrand(although they only sell all natural foods). A new yoga spot opened on Nostrand as well, but its on the second floor with no signage so I don't know how well its doing. And a new place opened just off Park Place that has all natural beauty items, massage, aromatherapy, etc.

  • homeowner, don't know how well the yoga place on Nostrand -- Urban Asanas -- is doing either, but they got Julianne Moore to come out. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=146040342227069&set=a.109363692561401.19661.102762986554805&type=1&theater
