Best bar in Prospect Heights?

For its neighborhood feel and loyal crowd, I like Bar Sepia.
I've been a pretty reliable customer since it opened, 9 years ago
-
If you also want food:
-James (higher end)
-Vanderbilt (higher end)
-Woodwork (casual)Food not important:
-Washington Commons
-Sharlene's
-Branded (underrated drinking bar)I've really liked Atlantic Co. when I've been there - still not sure in which category it belongs, but it's a good place.
(edited for grammar)

We like Cornelius for burgers and food and a great happy hour, staff is wonderful. Plan B is good for sports and I like their sandwiches. Bartenders and folks at the bar are very friendly. We like Sepia, even more since they started serving food, however often the bartenders are distracted and it is difficult to get a second drink. Sharlene's is a good meeting place for happy hour drinks after work and they have the best AC during the summer.

Washington Commons
Followed by Woodwork.
They're my two favorite bars in the entire city, not just PH
-
Washington Common certainly excels for its yummy draughts. ...and garden in the summer.
I like it better than Franklin Park.

WOODWORK
-
1. Sepia.
2. Tooker Alley (tho i guess technically it's crown heights)
3. Washington Commons
4. Dean Street
5. Bearded Lady/Charlene's -
Soda Bar (12-7 happy hour every day)
Plan BThe places that charge $7 a draft I can't really consider good. This is brooklyn not times square... (branded comes to mind as an example of this).
-
Wash Comm and Woodwork are honorable mentions. Heck I'll even throw in Sharlenes and Oceans as well

-
Wow, tough question. I've paid many visits to all of the above and would have to go with Hot Bird. Weather Up is the best place for cocktails and Washington Commons is my favorite for beer. But Hot Bird wins for all-around best bar IMO.
-
You guys really dont know how good you have it. Or maybe you do. In any case when its warm I often do PH/CH bar crawls
-
Hot bird does pitchers which is cool. So does Oceans. Not many places do them anymore.
-
Good point, cremate. Years ago, pitchers were the norm, but it's rare to find them nowadays. Oceans is a good place - haven't been there in a while, but they have a nice bar and, of course, it's the only place in the area that I know of to shoot some pool. And, yes, Cool, you are right - we boozers need to be grateful for so many options!
-
Jack, Bearded Lady has a pool table in it's new "back room" annex.
-
For beer, Washington Commons, Atlantic Co.
I visited Atlatic Co this weekend - really nice, laid-back, surprising number of taps - 12- 16 of good ones.for cocktails, weather up, bearded lady. i haven't been to tooker alley yet.
for good all around time: besides the above, which are some of favorites, branded, bar sepia. there's good music and nice people at all these places.
-
Where is Atlantic Co.? I haven't heard of it before.
-
It is down by Atlantic Ave, in the space that used to have that Ortine Cafe.
...it is owned by the same people that operated Ortine.
-
A few friends and I went to Woodwork recently - I hadn't been there in ages and had forgotten what a cool place it is. Thanks for reminding me of Atlantic Co., as I had forgotten about them. Every bar must be visited at least once!
-
WOODWORK (i say again)
1. Best place to watch soccer
2. Best bloody mary I've ever had and good beer selection
3. Best people
4. Solid food -
I will add my love of Sepia, but I've been going there since it opened, so I definitely feel a Cheers vibe whenever I walk in, even with the influx of new customers over the years.
Howdy, Stranger!
