erase the extention?

I've lost count of how many times I've gone down Flatbush Ave and wondered why the stretch that leads to the Manhattan Bridge is still called an "extension." I mean, yeah..at one time the street WAS extended, but isn't it, by now, just plain old Flatbush Avenue?

While we are at it, I think we should get rid of New Lots, a neighborhood in East NY that was named in the 1600s, by Dutch farmers who lived in West brooklyn and were looking East.

Clearly, those "lots" are no longer "new".

Using that logic we would have to change the name of "New" York, "New" Jersey and the other new states and areas so it's quite unfeasible.

As I understand it they'd have to renumber and rename all the addresses on Flatbush, which would be a big headache for little/no gain.
