Closed Library - Temporary Alternative
Re the Washington Ave Closure:
1. Do you think the Brooklyn Public Library would be willing to have the return box available at that location so locals can at least return the books there?
2. To have the library truck at that location once or twice a week for pick-ups? (Will especially be beneficial for seniors that find it hard to travel further distances.)

Does a bookmobile exist in the Brooklyn system? On may be advisable in situations like this. A book return box certainly is ideal.

The library had four bookmobiles in use for libraries affected by Hurricane Sandy. Not sure if they are still being used for that purpose or if those branches have reopened. The library also had small lending boxes available at Sandy branches, so perhaps those could be put out at Washington as well. You should reach out to the administrative staff at the Central Library and see if they can assist the community in coming up with options until the branch reopens.
