Well Drilling/Aquafer Testing? — Brooklynian

Well Drilling/Aquafer Testing?

edited November -1 in Prospect Heights

Does anyone know what's going on with the well drilling rigs around Prospect Heights recently? Saw one drilling over on Prospect Place earlier in the week, and then two drilling on Sterling Place this morning. Should have asked what they were looking for, but was short on time.

  • There is a rig parked on the corner of Sterling and Butler. I also wondered what is going on. Does anyone know?

  • one last week on park place, but i also do not know why.

  • There is one of these currently doing whatever it is supposed to be doing right now on underhill and st. johns. Been seeing more and more (or maybe the same one in different locations) parked around the slope and the heights in the last few weeks, but never one in use. It's loud! If anyone happens to pass by that location (it's right in front of the non-construction site), please get us some info. If I have a chance I'll go back by there and ask the guys what's up.

  • DEP is testing soil permeability - considering installing some runoff swales:

There's one on St Marks just east of 4th Ave by the beer garden I think - if one wanted to see the real deal.

The drilling crew said the soil around Washington ave was pretty non-permeable - but Underhill was looking more promising.

Was glad to confirm it wasn't a Greenpoint-style underground oil spill or something :)
