Some readers may not be aware that Brooklynian has celebrated Festivus every year.

I am pleased to announce that this year present and past posters will gather to celebrate the 9th Brooklynian Festivus.

On Sunday, December 15th, a collection people will gather at the newly rebuilt Prospect Park Ice Rink at 4 PM to demonstrate our lack of skill. I have heard that this event will then be followed by chili eating and apple cider drinking at an undisclosed location.

You could join us. However, only those who attempt to ice skate will be welcome to join us for chili eating and apple cider.

This article says the rink will open in Mid December, so it seems I am cutting it close by scheduling this event for Dec 15.

I received an email from the Parks Alliance. The rink opens to members on Dec 19, and the general public on Dec 20.

Dec 18th:

The rink opens tomorrow to Park Alliance members, and the website is now up and running:

I believe that the rink is actually incorporated separately from the Alliance, but that they are "good friends". Hence, the separate website.

Dec 20th, opening day:

On opening day, the high was 57 degrees.Today, (less than 2 weeks later) the high is 19 degrees, with around 8" of snow....and it closed due to the weather.
