Yeah, I've been wanting to try this place forever. This just cinches it. -

Not just Russians! Mrs. C said that some visiting chefs from Italy at her old restaurant (Daniel) were raving about that place as "the best restaurant in New York."
This place is clearly made for us! Did you see the bottle of vodka on the table in the FoodCandy review? -

i'll ask my russian friends who goto these places
. see if anyone eaten at them before. -
I love it there. It's the best feeling to sit there all sandy and sunburnt while the sun is setting.

Hey Isa, as our local veg expert
(you wrote about wanting to opening a vegan restaurant, right?)
Do you know what is on the vegetarian plate at Primorski's?
I used to go there occasionally, and we could never really place what all that pickled and mashed deliciousness was...some eggplant, lots of anonymous vegetal something. . . . -

Wow, I haven't been there since like 1987, which is before I was vegetarian. Sorry I can't help! I remember the chicken jello though, and I can't say I miss it.

Subject: tatyana
Tatyana is a bit pricey but the food is very good [since I love my native dishes]. However, they also serve American dishes, i.e. burgers; and French, Greek and other European dishes. There are actually two Tatyanas on the boardwalk, one “Tatyana Café†and one “Tatyana Restaurantâ€ÂÂ, same stuff though. One is newer and was renovated with transparent glass floors with fish swimming underneath. It is always packed though and Russians smoke everywhere so if your eekky about that you might want to try week days when there are not so many people. However, every time I pass that place they are packed. It’s nice to sit on the boardwalk on a sunny breezy day, drink some beer or wine. They make good salads too. They have a brunch special menu, decent price.
I think during the weekends people throw parties there (inside), but you may still be able to sit outside on the boardwalk. Russians like to party and they tend to have wild shows with Russian gipsy dances and wannabe Las Vegas shows. Mostly directed at older Russian crowd. Be aware that in Brighton old men wear tight leather pants and grannies wear transparent blouses. It’s a circus all the way.
STAY AWAY from “Moscow Café†it s bursting with drunkards and that place stinks. There are also many drunkards who live on the boardwalk so just be aware, but they are harmless. -
omg! WE HAVE TO GO!!!!!
:!: :!: :!: :!: :!: -
Titiana's food is really good, but as another poster said, it is more of a seen and be seen spot for people, party's drinking party, drink, and food..lol!! The food is really one of the best kept secrets in the area!
Go dressed to kill and order a bottle before you are even seated for best service! (until they know you!) -
food's good, but much of it isn't Russian. Tatiana is omni-cosmopolitan cuisine - global. BYOB, order a bottle for good show, but bring a few bottles with you, unless you're on a corporate spending spree. If it's sights you want, check it out on Saturdays after 3 am. Various servise providers unload vans full of scantily dressed Russian girls - it looks like a cross between a beauty pageant-and-Allied invasion of Normandy. Van dorrs slide open and droves of scantily dressed Russian girls pile out like Marines out of Huey's
people mill about with drink in hand. Later respectable genlemen escort these ladies to their luxury cars four-five at a time to take them to equally respectable suburban homes in NJ where they have pool parties while the woves and kids are Upstate or visiting grandma. -
The Vegas-style shows are fun to watch. Oh, and the chicken jello is called "holodetz" it is eaten with red horse-radish or russian mustard. Enjoy
