Yes there is a wonderful Pediatrician in the heights. Her name is Edna Pytlak. I am currently trying to get her as my pediatrician. I am not sure if she is accepting new patients but you can give it a try.

Our child is 1 year and we see Erin Thelander at Pytlak & Oconnors practice. She is the newest to the practice and they are so busy most new comers now get Erin. She is great but still not seasoned like the other two. All pitch in though so your child will be seen one all of them sooner or later. Everyone we knew in the Heights went there ....we never even received any other recommendation other than them. -

I am actually meeting with Erin Thelander next week. I was a little concerned about how young she is, but I'm glad to hear that you think she is great. I would appreciate any other thoughts you have on her as a pediatrician and also your experience with the practice. Thanks so much, in advance. -

The doctors that we see in the Heights are Dr. Martin Finkelman and Dr. Katarina Silverblatt. 145 Henry Street, 718-858-4924.
They were recommended to us by friends and by patients at the Elizabeth Seton Childbearing Center (when it existed). Our son is 3 1/2 and we have been very happy with their care from day one. Their staff is helpful and pleasant. It is not difficult to get an immediate appointment if you really need it. Requests for forms are dealt with quickly. They are also wonderful on call - a must for new moms who are overly worried!

We go to Thelander too and she's been good. It is not as if you will be exclusive to Thelander, sometimes you see O'Connor or Pytlak, and there is always more than one of them in the office if you feel you want a second opinion. We've been quite happy.

Harry Sergiou, on Henry St in Carroll Gardens, was our longtime pediatrician and was terrific with/for our kids. He is calm and reassuring, confident without being arrogant, and knows his stuff without ordering a ton of tests. (Many friends used Edna Pytlak and liked her enormously.)

i can confirm tribeca pediatrics is a good choice. i assume you (o.p.) have already made a choice, so this is kind of for future readers. dr jana dehovitz is (i presume) the doctor described above; she is very nice, as is andrea byrne, who is a nurse practitioner there. we are new parents and have only been there three times, but we have been completely satisfied with our decision, which i might add, was based solely on the recommendation of friends nearby. fyi they are opening a new branch office elsewhere in brooklyn; boerum hill i believe. -
I did not like Martin Finkelman when I had to deal with him when he covered for my ped. when she was on maternity leave. This is going back to the late 80's, perhaps he has moved a bit with the times and won't lecture a mom about working if a baby has a cold.

Marty Finkelman was my pediatrician, as well as my siblings way back in the day. I only really stopped going there for quick prescriptions (allergy stuff) once I finished college. I'll say, from a former patient's point of view, he is (was) exactly what a pediatrician should be--understanding, honest, comforting and just plain wonderful. (If I have kids anytime soon, they're going there before he retires.)
Out of curiousity, for whom was he covering, Reader? (Because I wonder if it's the same person who used to cover for him when he was on vacation. She was a ped in Park Slope. I would try to avoid getting sick while he was out because I wasn't a fan of hers at all, hahaha. Maybe it's just the style one is used to.) -
Subject: awaful doctor - Dr. Martin Finkelman
We original planned to see Dr. Silverblatt but front desk didn't let us know that Dr. Finkelman will be on duty that day. Anyway, that's not the point. We arrived on time for our appointment and saw Dr. Finkelman first time. He was TERRIBLE and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I don't remember it's "requirement" that doctor have to ask my nationality and find out our job titles so details to put into his system. I finally said "can you please focus on baby?". God...damn ..it...i think that piss him off.
After the flu shot, the baby still bleeding from the shot , then Dr. Finkelman just walked out the room without putting a bandage on my baby thigh. one of vaccination was oral intake. He put into my baby mouth and grab her throat and said trust me,I learned it by feeding my cat medicine. She will swallow it. Baby started cried very loud and throw out. He used the paper that baby laid on to wipe her mouth off, WTF....that's dirty. I was really piss off....!!!
BTW, don't ever compare your patient's baby to your cat !!!
WTF....crazy doctor!!!
