  • I work near there. There are a lot of nice 2 and 3-story row houses. Church Avenue is great for Carribean food (especially Jamaican and Trini, with Food for You serving up my favorite roti in the area). There's good subway access with the nearby #2 train (and #5 during rush hour). There's also a lot of commercial stuff along Nostrand, so basic shopping isn't too bad. I know there's a Key Food by Nostrand and Winthrop, but I'm not sure where others are further south. It is a fairly high-crime area compared to some of the other areas covered on these boards, but it's also a really warm and friendly community.
  • Subject: East Flatbush

We lived there in the 60's and I drive through and the area seems ok to me BUt? to really get the feel of the area you should go there yourself,
  • My nephew just moved to Lenox and Nostrand; when I visited him last week I drove back along Church to the Prospect Expressway--lots of traffic but drivers were quite considerate of each other and (many) double-parkers and everything just moved right along. A good change from Manhattan where drivers are always trying to kill each other.
