Hit Run - Kent Flushing Ave.
Even if you don't know this person, getting the word out could help.

Monica Henk was in a terrible hit & run motorcycle accident this past Saturday. At this time she is in critical condition.
Monica is essentially brain dead. Her entire family has signed documents to turn off life support, they are waiting for the hospital to process the request. All efforts are being focused on finding the hit and run driver.
The amount of the reward is continually raised as donations pour in, but so far it exceeds $4,000.
The driver of the vehicle was never caught. At this time, the best description anyone has about the vehicle was that it was a black SUV. The accident occurred on the corner of Kent & Flushing Ave. in Brooklyn, New York at about 7am on Saturday, April 7th, 2007.
ETA: One of the websites was updated to say this: Police now believe it is a 95-97 Black Chevy S-10 Blazer. It is missing the front bumper from the accident, and one of the headlights was smashed out. -Emily
If you have any information about this accident or the vehicle in question, please contact Dan Henk at (917) 554-1341 or call New York State Crimestoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. There is a reward from Dan & Monica’s family for any information leading to the arrest and capture of the hit & run driver. (Please, do not call Dan at this number for tattoo information.)
Monica’s web site is located at monhenk.com and you can visit her MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/monhenk

-
So sorry to hear/read about that.
Condolences -
Why am I not surprized about the vehicle. This is the forth hit and run involving an SUV that I've heard about in the last week (and it's only Wednesday...)
-

April 12, 2007 -- Relatives of a young motorcyclist who was mowed down by a hit-and-run SUV driver plan to remove her from life support as early as today, they told The Post yesterday.
"It feels horrible because we all love Monica so much, but there's no hope left for her; it's what she would have wanted," said her husband, Dan Henk.
His 25-year-old wife was left for dead by the cowardly driver of a black Chevy Blazer who smashed into her Yamaha on Kent Avenue near her home in Williamsburg on Saturday.
Her family has raised $6,000 in reward money for information on the driver.
"He's ruined so many lives. He's ruined my life," said Henk.
"She was my best friend, she was a model, she was a singer, she was an artist, and he just took that all away from her." -
(WTF? I was just allowed to post without logging in.)

Vehicles are death machines.
Why would anyone leave the scene of an accident?
Was the driver drunk with a criminal record?
Is it possible that the driver did not realize a person was injured?
If you accidentally kill someone with a vehicle while sober, aren’t you better off staying at the scene and facing the law instead of fleeing the accident scene and getting caught by the police at a later date?
I wonder how the driver feels right now. -
Ron and Fez just put out the word over the air. I hope they catch the bastard!
-
I feel bad, mad, and sad for the family.
I am also frightened thinking about living locals’ safety. I hope no one reading ever gets run over by an SUV.
I'm amazed that these terrible things don't happen more often. On Flatbush Avenue during rush hour pedestrians dash across the street while speeding vehicles race each other.
I saw the aftermath of a hit-and-run in March on Eastern Parkway. The car that was rear-ended was smashed up, but the driver was OK. The vehicle that rear-ended the smashed car took off. -
hey guys, let's keep this post about what happened to Monica and information about the case.
Can't you have this dicussion in another thread? -
Doublediamond, I moved the SUV posts to a separate thread.
I think its a good idea to keep this one about the accident and condolences. -
A terrible tragedy. Let's hope that the culprit will have a change of conscience and turn him/herself in to the authorities.
My heartfelt condolences to Monica's family.
Howdy, Stranger!
