Permanent or foster home needed for dog ASAP

My mom sent me this email today. She heard about the dog through a friend who knows the family.

"Here is the info on the dog:

Name is Sasha - female
Chow/Akita mix
Weighs 35 - 40 pounds
Carmel color
2 1/2 years old
House trained
Very well behaved
Will pick up bowl when hungry
Will grab your hand and bring you to the door when she wants to go out.

Reason for giving her away - lives in a house with 4 small children, a wife and husband who just returned from Iraq. Lots of yelling, fighting and screaming which causes a terrible atmosphere - she probably was just trying to protect her territory. Sasha gave a warning bite (no blood) to one of the children and the wife flipped out pushing the dog on her back so the dog bit her and drew blood. So now she is kept hostage in a bedroom in a cage and is not allowed out. If they cannot find a home within a week they will put her to sleep. The family cannot cope with the dog or pretty much anything else."

This family is clearly overwhelmed and the dog shouldn't have to suffer for it. Alpha rolling a dog is asking for trouble. Can anyone help this dog? I have my hands full with my brood and the fosters. Even if someone could foster her for a little while. I could put up signs and a friend can put Sasha on petfinder.com. Please help!

  • How is she with cats?
  • I'm so sorry I didn't respond sooner, this last week has been insane for me. My memory is shoddy at best, throw in a little chaos and it really lets me down. My pets, the foster kitties, and my 2 jobs are crowding other thoughts out of my head. I'm going to get an update from my mom tomorrow, she has to speak to the friend who told her about Sasha. Again, I'm really sorry I didn't respond sooner. Thanks!
  • FYI, Caseopele has informed me that she hasn't been able to get any further updates on the dog and we should remove the sticky, so I'm doing that.
