DiFara's — Brooklynian

DiFara's

Subject: DiFara's

Apparently one must be prepared to wait a long time to sample DiFara's famous pizza, but can anyone tell me when is the best time to go there for the shortest wait? I'm new to the area & really want to to find out if this place lives up to the hype, but I don't have 2 hours to wait in line for pizza.

Thanks

  • I'd say go early or go between lunch and dinner on a weekday.
  • like duh.. make sure it is now open because it was sited for nyc board of health regulations...
  • DiFara's on Ave. J & East 15th St.? I've been there numerous times, but not recently. I never had to wait long at all. I guess they must've gotten popular. IMO, the pizza is good; no more, no less.

I finally had the time to sample DiFara's (waited 40 mins 1st time, nearly an hour the 2nd). It was very good, lives up to the hype/awards. But the place really is very dirty, makes you wonder with all the business they do why they can't hire someone to clean up at night. Also the lack of any sort of organized system regarding pizza orders is pretty aggravating. On my 2nd visit I saw some pretty pissed off people who had been skipped over & waiting forever. I guess that's part of the deal for the best pizza in NYC.
  • 40 years ago when I was 18 I never waited for a slice of Pizza at this place! I lived in the Hood and walked over and in 3 minuts I was chowing down on the best slice known to the human race!! Fast forward to NOW.. I am still a Brooklyn girl and I am willing to wait for the joy of having the best slice in the City.. bar none!!
