What a cute mouse. I want it out of here! — Brooklynian

What a cute mouse. I want it out of here!

My boy caught this little critter in the morning. He even brought it to bed and tried to share it with me.

The mouse is still very much alive with food and all. It appears to be young since it's about an inch and a half long not counting the tail. What's the humane way of disposing it?

  • well, if you are not up to killing it, take it to prospect park and let the red tailed hawks get it!

We used to have mice in the kitchen so I bought one of those "humane traps." I took the first mouse I caught to the park and released it. It ran about ten feet and a hawk swooped down and carried it off. It was simultaneously cool and horrifying. After that I bought some snap traps.
  • Release it in the park. What happens, happens. Maybe the hawks will give it a break...
  • Thanks for the suggestion. I did release it in the park.
  • good job. that was probably the easiest, least squeamish way of accomplishing a humane disposal method. now let's hope he doesn't have any brothers and sisters!!!
  • and let's hope your cat forgives you for taking his toy away! to give to a BIRD! imagine!
