renovated library

it was a great scene on saturday on the library steps. the renovation includes miniature fountains along the side of the stairs. most people took the opportunity to remove their shoes and dangle their feet in the little jets of water. dogs decided to battle the water. a groovy afro pop band played above. they also announced that the renovation includes an auditorium below the steps where they will have events.

  • I always wondered if the interior of the library is original or was a recent renovation. Does anyone know what the interior looked like when it opened in 1941? I'm getting nothing on google.
  • Subject: Where's the fountain?

I retuned a bunch of DVD's today. So where is this fountain? I looked it over, did they take it on for repairs already? Overall it still looks "One Planet of the Apes Plaza" but cleaner.

Try NYPL.org's digital library, you might find something there.

  • SevenOneEighty, good idea and an awesome site you linked to. Thanks.

pitu, I looked there and couldn't find this link. Thanks!
  • the "fountain" consists of little jets of water along the sides of the steps. apparently this is something they are going to selectively deploy, like hidden headlights on a 1972 mercury montego. not for everyday footwashing.
  • In that case I was probably standing on them.
